I hate it when celebrities play the victim card ... Anyone else having a brawl and breaking someone's nose would result in police action ... and the media might cover it by giving it 2 lines on the fourth page.

So ya! the difference is in the hoopla and the media circus ... but this difference is the exact reason why celebrities are revered and talked about, why they are paid crores for just turning up and shaking their bum, this precise difference is the reason that they are arrogant enough to believe that the world owes them gratitude for simply existing and that they can get away with anything ...

Celebrities are not made on the basis of their talent ... the media hoopla makes them the stars they are ... So puhlease! don't turn around and ask "is he/she being victimised" ... when you get the adoration of a couple of million people then maybe you should hold yourself to higher standard of behaviour

... i wish shobha de would just shut up ... whenever she defends/ sides with anyone, i immediately itch to take the opposite position after being turned off by her condescending and pompous attitude ...

desu are you sure thats the reason he is not promoting it together ??? ... Me thinks that there is trouble in paradise ... i think ssaif and his family want them to get married asap and kareena is delaying the issue ... so we have news of engagement/marriage and stories about clothes/designers and then karrena gives an interview claiming no marriage on horizon

... or maybe its the disaster of kurbaan effect ... they don't want to promote it together given how kurbaan was trashed

I really don't understand the whole "let crucify Saif" sentiment thats going through the media right now.

Lets assume for a second that it is true. He did hit the two men. So what?

Fights happen every day, everywhere. Its not like he murdered someone. It was a lapse of judgement, in a drunk state. It could happen to anyone.

And for the record, I do believe Saif's version. They were a little loud at the table, annoyed the NRI's, the NRI's got aggressive.

You echoed EXACTLY what Shoba De was saying.
That the way the media has "curicified" Saif is SOLELY because he is a celebrity.
He got in a fight. He did not "assault" someone who had less power than him. THe man matched him status wise as well as age wise and even his physicality.
It was a fight between two men, and one came running to the media afterwards and painted the other black. Simple.
Now all his past cases, from 8 years ago, are being raked up, and being held against him.
Bips,
Saif & Kareena are completely fine. They were dining together DURING this incident, and were in a very happy mood, celebrating.
Reason Saif is keeping Kareena out of promotions is:
A) He doesnt want people to get an overdose of their pairing before the film releases
B) He doesnt want their offscreen couple to overshadow the film because then all the questions would be directed to their relationship and peopel somewhere just forget about the film.

The situation doesnt change, but it does alter the perspective on Saif.
It is being portrayed that Saif hit the senior citizen, which he did NOT.
Yes, getting into a fight is bad, BUT, its not as bad as striking an elderly man across the face.
Saif and Iqbal are both equals, in terms of physicality, age, status.
What sounds worse?
Getting into a fight wiht a man of the same size (actually Sharma is slightly larger, lol)
OR
Slapping an old man across the face?

I disagree. You have to consider power dynamics.
Who has the upper hand.
Its like saying, is a woman slapping a man the same thing as a man slapping a woman? Both are bad, BUT one clearly has far worse reprecussions and is considered a more douchy thing to do.
Because a woman is phsyically weaker, if she slaps a man, its like Ooo, shit. Humiliating, etc.
But if a man slaps a woman, it falls directly into abuse category.
A man hitting a child or minor is clearly different than a man getting into a fight wiht an adult.
Which is why this differnece, no matter how MINOR it may seem, actually makes a huge differnece when you look at it in social context.
Its like, i've personally seen my own father ALMOST get into a phsyical fight when a misunderstanding with the neightbor next door escalated and abusive language was used.
That was a scary sight and luckily my mom and uncle pulled him away.
BUT, I cannot IMAGINE my father raising his hand, or using physical force, on an elderly man.
One would have been a lapse in judgment and getting carried away by emotion. The other, no matter how much you justify it, would make someone a DOUCHE. I think Shakeel Ladakh is a dumbass, for instance.
My respect for even Saif would have gone down had he slapped/punched the elderly gentleman.
A fight, meh, stupid. But I woudnt call him a jerk for that.
