Surprise of the eve: Aamir Khan making a rare appearance with Kiran. And we've got to add, Kiran looked younger sporting a cropped haircut. We have to say it looks good on her. As does the new frame, that goes quite well with her new look. Whazzat? The Aamir effect? | |||||||||||||||||||
Sing along
The video was shot at Mona Kapoor's studio in Goregaon. Says Saxena, "We spoke to Mumait, she loved this song and immediately said yes." Settled in San Jose, California, Saxena has an MBA from New York. She quit her finance job to pursue her interest in singing. She is currently the lead singer for a professional band Dhun formed by her husband Sandeep. She further adds, "My goal is to be a playback singer for Hindi films." Food for thought
Singh was speaking at the release of his souvenir album, Live in Sydney to mark the completion of 40 years of his singing career. But why prefer the live performance at the Opera House in Sydney? "That because it's a rare privilege to be allowed to sing at that landmark Australian venue which is mainly for live operas. Secondly, the auditorium has among the world's best hi-tech acoustic facilities," justified Jagjit. The celeb turnout included the singer's close associates like Khayyam, Gulzar, Anup Jalota, Prem Chopra and Ramesh Sippy, who was the chief guest. Sitting incognito in the audience was the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge winner Debojit Saha. When quizzed about his ghazal connection, Saha says, "Not many are aware that I'd sing Jagjitji's ghazals for this show Ghazal-e-Saara on ETV. For once, I am content sitting in the audience and not performing on stage." O Saawariya!
Dattani wanted to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya starring Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. An informer tells us, "Dattani used to go and wait for Bhansali everyday outside his residence. He wanted to meet him at any cost. Eventually, Bhansali did meet him." Need we spell out the outcome of the meeting? Himesh: Sum of his luck
Remember the jacket, or that unmissable cap (wonder if he ever takes it off)? Here's a new addition— a clutch of beads and threads and amulets and pendants with stones round his neck (a la Ekta). Lucky charms to keep that nasal twang intact, we presume. Kunaal's key to a good marriage
The difference here is that the couple has chosen to work separately on their individual albums rather than working together on one. Says Kunaal, "Working as a couple would have been clichd. Most couples often make the mistake of working together without even taking their professional compatibility into consideration. In our case for instance, our singing styles are very different and might not gel too well with each other's voices. Also, it is better for both of us to pursue our careers on our own instead of treading on each other's toes." Upen's moves
But the men-in-white directors, Abbas-Mustan, have already roped in Patel for their next big picture to go on floors in September. "He will be the highlight of this film, he has worked hard and brings freshness to the screen," they tell us. Will it be another thriller? "That's the mystery," they laugh. Q What would you call the problems of an arrogant actor who suffers from vertigo? A Attitude and Altitude problems. |
