Saw it and Loved it. Guys go see it for Vidya she rocked her role.

My Review

LOVED IT!...All the "actresses" that can't "act" in our industry need to watch Vidya's performance. Seriously. There is no doubt that Vidya CAN act and there is definitely no doubt that this is Vidya's movie. She is a pattaka in it. Hats off to her. Every expression, every line, every scene, ever body language...everything...she is just FABULOUS. 👏 I am so glad that she did this movie. Very very very very very satisfying! I can't explain how happy i am to see her do this movie and how good this movie was. Brave and bold. No doubt that this falls into one of the best "women oriented" movies from our industry.

The number one thing that i was concerned about the movie is that i didn't want the movie to be just driven on Silk's "sex symbol" aspect...like, i didn't want the movie to be just about the outer aspect of her career or life. And i am more than glad that it wasn't. The movie actually draws a wonderful outline of an unapologetic industry that was driven on a "flesh-obsessed" or "skin show" or "sex sells" films and how they were responsible for Silk's rise and fall from beginning to end. It doesn't necessarily make the industry the victim or villain and neither does it make Silk the victim or villain. It lets you decide. The movie actually makes you think. Also, as sexy as Vidya looks in the movie its NEVER vulgar...she uses her body language exceptionally. Bravo to her. Anyways, I loved the whole aspect of how the story worked. If you think about it, we all know how the story ends..its predictable and THAT was the beauty of the film. Though it is predictable, yet each frame brings up a surprise as Vidya displays various shades of her character, leading to some interesting situations that have you on the edge of your seat. Wanting more. And what's even more interesting is how in each scene the people around her react and how the three boys react. And of course, that brings me to the three guy leads...they have done a great job as well. This might be an out and out Vidya Balan movie but these guys surely stick out to you. They deserve a standing ovation as well. Im telling you...this movie is just so very satisfying all around. Love, love, love.


Overall: The script; the dialogues; the acting; the music; the narrative style; the story...its ALL there. Good, good, good. You won't be disappointed! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It's kick-ass!(;
Actually, there is a line in the movie that says..."There are three things you need for a successful film: entertainment, entertainment, entertainment."...And trust me, this film has all three and more!(:

9 out of 10 overall but Vidya definitely deserves a point all to herself.

I just saw the movie & I have to say it's hand down best movie of 2011.

The part i found interesting was, that she always saved pictures from newspaper stories but never actually read them. If she didn't care about what was written why did she keep those stories safe? And why did it affect her so much all of a sudden?

DIRTY PICTURE is without a doubt the best film of 2011!! Bollywood has showed a true life story without butchering it! First of all, let me say Ekta Kapoor is simply an outstanding producer NOW. I thought she was a t.v. soap queen, but this film deserves kudos for its true representation of a heroine who had a very tough life. Silk Smitha was a human being just like all of us! She got into the wrong path and her mother was not very encouraging either.

The dirty picture, surely it's got to be the best film of the year! Performances, dialogues, direction...thumbs up to it all 👍🏼

Performance wise, Vidya Balan was without a doubt the star. She brought Silk to life with her powerhouse performance. Right from her dialogue delivery to her expressions, everything was done to perfection and with ease. Naseer sahib as always was a pleasure to watch and Tusshar Kapoor was good.

But out of the men, I enjoyed Emraan Hashmi's performance the most. I will throw e-spears at anyone who says that he cannot act 😆 because he CAN! And I loved his chemistry with Vidya. Glad to know that they are doing another film together 😳 And a note of appreciation for the supporting cast as well. Everyone chipped in very well.

I won't be surprised if TDP sweeps all the awards...it thoroughly deserves to do so!
Go watch it, peeps- if you haven't already. A must watch 👍🏼

Side note: I have never contributed towards reviews before and this will go down as the crappiest review ever 😆 but I genuinely loved this film and wanted to throw in my two cents :)

The film collected around 9.50 crore nett as per early estimates on Saturday takings its two day business to nearly 18.50 crore nett. Normally a film which is so strong at mass centres on day one that too with high collections is likely to see a fall on day two. The Dirty Picture managed to show growth as appreciation is good at single screens and multiplexes. Sunday is likely to show good growth and collections could get to around 11 crore nett. The Dirty Picture is likely to emerge one of the bigger hits of the year. The Dirty Picture Has Huge Sunday Monday 5th December 2011 10.00 IST Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network The Dirty Picture has a had a huge Sunday with early collections suggesting a 11 crore nett Sunday or at least very close to 11 crore nett. The three day weekend is likely to finish in the 29-30 crore nett which is extraordinary for a film like The Dirty Picture. The weekend will be the fifth or sixth biggest of the year and ahead of star studded films like Desi Boyz and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The film had done excellent business all over but it is the single screens in Maharashtra/Nizam area where Emraan Hashmi films tend to do better which have outperformed with phenomenal collections. Nagpur, Kolhapur, Latur, Aurangabad, etc have all recorded bumper collections. The Dirty Picture will put up a big lifetime total as the film has tremendous appreciation especially at single screens and further aiding the film is an an open run at single screens for three weeks until the release of Don 2 as all releases till then are multiplex films. The release of Ladies v Rikcky Bahl will take multiplex screen space from it but it is a one horse race at single screens for the next few weeks.
