Madhuri Dixit to go dhak dhak on stage

Madhuri Dixit Nene, accomapanied by her sons two-year-old Arin and 11-month-old Ryan, are in town for a two-month vacation. Hubby Dr Sriram Nene is expected to join the threesome next week.

So what has been Mrs Nene up to? Apart from spending quality time with her parents and taking her kids for early morning strolls at beaches and promenades, she Madhuri is keen to take up a few assignments.

Remembering Parveen

Madhuri will perform live at the Filmfare Awards on February 25, after a hiatus of almost six years. The last time she took to the stage was at a concert in Bangalore, organised by Daashaka Ads and Entertainment, in collaboration with DNA networks. Sources say Madhuri has been allotted a special slot — a tribute to the late Parveen Babi (who was found dead in her flat last year).

Says Madhuri's business manager, Rakesh Nath, "The organisers were hell-bent on having her to do a surprise performance at the awards ceremony. On Saturday, we had the final meeting, where Madhuri agreed to hit the stage again.

She is super-excited about performing, and yesterday, had a special meeting where they decided on the songs. She's looking forward to meet her former colleagues at the show."

Four day's preparation

As far as the preparations go, the actress has asked for four days to choreograph and put together her dance act. Adds Nath, "Madhuri has always been a confident individual.

She doesn't get jittery and tense about anything and knows how to do a perfect job. However, people around have been sceptical as she will be donning make-up and facing the arclights after a long break. But we shouldn't forget that she has been Bollywood's reigning queen and can never get out of that mould."

Kajra re effect

We hear that the actress has been bowled over by the recent Bollywood anthem, Kajra re, while Bunty Aur Babli continues to be one of her favourite flicks. Coming to the present generation of actresses, she believes Rani Mukerji, Aishwarya Rai and Preity Zinta comprise the cream of the lot.
