His recent marriage to Kiran Rao seems to have helped Aamir Khan in more ways than one.
Aamir has started watching films in south Indian languages — Kiran can now help interpret them, and was so bowled over by director Murugadas' hit Tamil film, Gajni, that he has agreed to act in its Hindi remake.
Gajni, an action-packed film starring Surya and newcomer Asin, will also be directed by Murugadas for a South Indian producer, who plans to relaunch his banner with a film after a long hibernation, after making a series of films with Amitabh Bachchan.
Aamir saw the film in Mumbai with Kiran at a special trial held exclusively for him recently, and allotted dates for the project as soon as he is through with his work in Yash Chopra's Fanaah.
Director thrilled
Though Khan was not available for confirmation on signing the project, an associate of Murugadas confirmed that the director was thrilled to be making his debut with the Hindi version of his own Tamil hit, with Aamir.
Though he refused to divulge details about the project, he said there were plans to sign on a new face opposite Khan, since the producer wants to complete the film in a single, non-stop shooting schedule, and release it by the end of the year.
Pre-production work is underway, and the script is undergoing some changes suggested in the story line by Aamir, to make the narrative pacy and taut.
