Just came across this video that compares the last scene of the old and new Devdas. I do feel that these two shouldnt be compared but I guess the new one is more emotional and dramatic because of the background score, the cinematography etc etc. I cant connect too much with the old Devdas because I cant stand black and white movies.

Strange that this question has eventually found its way to indiaforums, i believe i saw it on BollyWHAT a long LONG time ago when i too was trying to find evidence of Dev and Paro's sexual encounter.

Right of the bat, i'm pretty sure Paro and Dev got it on. And i don't think SLB concealed this for the sake of indian audiences, i think it kept with the subtleties of the movie, and the overall secrecy that was involved with their love. The 'more piya' song is a huge indicator that Paro lets her guard down and 'emotionally', 'mentally' and also 'physically' lets devdas in. At the end of the song i believe SRK carries Aishwarya Rai off after 'invading her' privacy and breaking her personal barriers. It implies that she submits to his somewhat aggressive need to make her 'his own'.

The kahe ched mohe song speaks for itself, in that Madhuri, acting as a second coming of a 'radha' figure alludes to Devdas's previous sexual exploits, and 'scolds' slash 'teases' him for it.

I think the biggest indication that devdas and paro were sexually active at one point though is hinted through the constant allusions to Radha and Krishna. Which one could argue is the most 'romantic' icon of the hindu religion but also the most sexual one. Even the imagery of paro and dev near a 'river' directly alludes to Krishna's first sexual encounter with Radha, near a river within a forest.

Also, i watched SLB's Devdas was i believe i was 10? I remember immensely enjoying it at the time, and i continue to. I've also watched the old devdas with Dilip Kumar, which was also freaking awesome. Im not going to disregard SLB's "Devdas" though.

i think SLB's effort was immense, the cinematography and art of his movie perfect, and the dramatic dialogue and even 'overdoing' of everything sort of added to the heaviness of the movie. I especially loved the music which was pretty damn flawless.

I love slb's devdas another way that i love the older devdas. both have its merits.

yeh i think the sexual encounter happened too..coz therz far too much evidence throughout the movie of paro "losing her honor" to devdas...

after Morey Piya,u see tht paro becomes way bolder and "i dunt care a damn" types...like right after morey piya when her sister tells her tht "our mother was insulted so much",paro just dreamily looks on and says "but dev wasnt the one who insulted her..." and also tells her sister tht she consideres herself "married" as in like a wife to devdas...and this proves tht they consumated their relationship because Paro starts considering herself devdas's wife even before they are married, because they indulged in tht act which was restricted to post marriage in those days...

Furthermore, she goes at midnight to devdas's room to confront him and ask him to elope with her, shes not afraid. Normally, a woman of tht era would think a million times before stepping out of the house at tht time, forget going into a "paraya mard"'s bedroom...however, paro didnt care because she already lost her virginity to dev so she feels she has nothing more to lose, and she feels she has a "right" on him...and the right to walk into his room at midnight without thinking abt the consequences...Basically, an indication tht she lost all her "Laaj"...and she fears nothing...not even losing her honor...

Exactly. she operates in a way that suggests she already belongs to him, and him to her. They are bound by something beyond what anyone but them can understand.
