Bhojpuri films are big business with even popular Bollywood stars doing Bhojpuri films.
So it was just a matter of time for them to have their very own awards.
The first Bhojpuri Film Awards was held over the weekend at the Goregaon Sports Club with Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu and Govinda as the special guests.

Husband minus band?
Overheard: 'Just Married' dulha Aashish Choudhry saying: "Soon I may have to remove this wedding band-ring.
Aashish Choudhry and Samita Bangargi
Because there would be 'continuity problems' whilst shooting for my movies."
His cronies quipped, "Kya bharosa — if you put on weight and your fingers became thicker, you will never be able to remove it.
So don't delay this, buddy. That's what is known as a 'married bachelor,' right Samita ?
The mane's Roshan…
Hrithik Roshan's gone out and done it, finally! Changed his hairstyle, we mean. Remember when we said the actor looked like he was in a perpetual bad-hair mode (Hrithik: Baal Ki Dukaan; December 30, 2005).
Hrithik Roshan
That has changed. For the better, we are happy to report. Check out his new look and decide for yourselves.
The Qazi phase is pass. We like the man's (who's almost always dressed in black, by some strange coincidence) new avatar. Wonder which stylist put some sense into him?
Zinda director's gift to Anu
Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta gifted his ex-wife, Anu, a swanky, silver Honda City ZX V-Tec on her birthday a few days ago. Though the couple is divorced, they continue to remain good friends.
Sanjay Gupta
Anu is also a talented designer. He was there by her side at the launch of one of her collections.
A close friend of the producer-director adds, "Anu is going great guns with her designing career with most top end stores stocking her label which simply states Anu. And with her dramatic weight loss she is also looking hotter by the day." Reconciliation time, Gups?
Nailed
Recently spotted Sri baby (Sridevi), minus her babies dressed in a white sleeved shirt and jeans, and sporting huge shades at an event soaking up the sun, looking as svelte as ever.
Sridevi
Looked like she just walked off some ranch.
But what was with those crimson-red nail-polished hands? Gave the impression that she dug her claws into some poor beast. Hope it wasn't Boney.
A more mature Karan
What's with Karan Johar new mature, graying look? We saw the filmmaker at Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's daughter's wedding and did a double take.
Karan Johar
Karan laughs when we quiz him about it. "I don't know what to do with it. I am not sure whether I should keep this look or not."
Well at least it should at last put him out of the league of 'new generation of filmmakers'. "Yes, that it should. I am no longer young any more," smiles Karan who is busy winding up his schedule of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna today.
Raza's Bollywood
Q. Which quality of Amitabh Bachchan is most admired by his son, Abhishek?
A. His 'daddy'-cation.
