Rajinikanth fans miffed with The Dirty Picture

Be it the concept, the raunchy posters or the title itself, everything has been controversial. And this time the moviemakers have faced the wrath of some Rajinikanth fans.

If the buzz around this issue is to be believed, Naseeruddin Shah's character in "The Dirty Picture" is inspired by the Tamil superstar. That Naseer is playing a superstar in the film, is common knowledge. The film's teaser doing the rounds shows Vidya Balan performing an item number with him. But what is also common is that Rajinikanth too is a superstar and he too acted with Silk in various movies, in which she had special item numbers with the actress.

Drawing a parallel between the two, fans of Rajinikanth are now demanding removal of those scenes that in anyway show Naseer (and thus Rajini) in a bad light.

The makers of the film however have denied any resemblance to the South star, saying that Naseer is playing an ageing star in the film whereas Rajini was in his prime when he worked with Silk. But fans are in no mood to relent. They have threatened the filmmakers with dire consequences if their superstar is portrayed in a bad manner.

Gawd, Rajni really is treated like a demi God, huh? He himself has acted with Silk, so what if Naseerudin Shah's character draws parallel from him.

If we take our lessons from the past, one thing we know is hell hath no fury like SRK fans? ARB fans? Rajinikanth fans scorned! Now a bunch of them are creating a hue and cry over the upcoming film The Dirty Picture. Naseeruddin Shah's character is shown, during the film's trailer, to be doing an elaborate item song with Vidya's Silk character. Back in his heyday, Rajini also did a few numbers with Silk Smitha, so fans have inappropriately deduced Shah's character in the film to be based on Rajinikanth. Um...oh kay. Furthermore, the crazed fans say the trailer paints a dirty picture (Ha!) of their idol,😆 and are petitioning the film makers to cut the scenes which show Shah's character, ergo Rajinikanth, in a bad light. Um...yah, that's not going to happen. Ekta Kapoor The film makers say there is no logical parallel between Rajini and Shah's character. Naseeruddin plays an ageing star in the film whereas Rajini was in his prime when he worked with Silk. Not exactly a fool-proof explanation, but I believe them! The fanatics, however, have threatened the film makers with "dire consequences" if their fading alcoholic star is portrayed badly.😆

Ahhh, I was waiting for this. I blame the media. I've wanted to discuss stories Rajnikanth and Silk Smitha on the boards, but I knew I should wait till AFTER the film had its theatre run.

Say whaaat? Naseeruddin Sha's character is inspired by Rajnikanth? WHOA, that's a shocker, to me at least 😲. btw, I friggin LOVE the first trailer that came out. My two favourites sharing the screen for the first time, Vidya and Emran. CANNOT wait for the lovemaking scenes ❤️

I don't understand why they're acting like this unless Rajni baba has some sort of history with Silk Smitha... so if there is one somebody spill and tell me what the Rajnikanth-Silk Smitha story is.
