Meet Ava Bernstine, a perky hip hop dancer from Debbie Allen's School of Dance, Los Angeles who is a Bollywood fan and says that Hindi movies are quite similar to Hollywood musicals.
In the capital to teach students of Shiamak Davar's Institute of Performing Arts, Ava talks about her first love dancing, which she says is her life.
"I started dancing when I was just six-years-old. I learnt ballet till the age of eleven and then went on to learn jazz," she adds. Completing her major in Journalism from Cal State Northridge, US Ava says, that since she had a flair for writing, studying journalism was only natural. The dancer also considers her degree in journalism as a backup plan for the days when she will eventually give up dancing.
Talking about how she got into choreography, Ava says that in 2001 she was chosen by Debbie Allen and Dave Scott to work with famous singer Chaka Khan. Debbie was so impressed with her work that she invited her to join the faculty. "I enjoy choreography but dancing will always remain my passion," she says.
