Out of the 14 hindi films she has done (not including the cameos), only Yuvraaj failed. That makes it what...13/14, which equals to 93 percent success rate. What happened to Yuvraaj?...Salman AND Katrina happened to Yuvraaj.

So New York was a hit because of Katrina?.. which would mean people paid to see her, that would have to be the case if we want to attribute the credit to her, even though the story mainly revolved around John and Nitin Mukesh... I'm not sure if these assumptions are valid... some people may have paid just to see her, but i don't think these people alone would've made it a hit

I am not a fan of either of them, and neither would i pay to see their films at the cinema, but in this case, I did, what made me see it wasn't the actors, but the story.. a lot of people liked the story.. many people who watched it didn't go just to see it for one actor.

in bollywood, only a Khan can take a crappy script, and turn it into a blockbuster..

I am not attributing all of the film's success to Katrina because that would be foolish, she has worked with some of the most popular actors so credit to them is due as well. But Katrina is used as a marketing tool for films. If you recall the promotions of New York, you'd know that her clips with John (Some kiss or something) was played over and over, and she was featured as much (if not more) than Neil and John during promotions. Obviously that made ppl go ahead and watch the films in the theater, or at least that's my assumption. If Rajneeti would have just relied on the "story" then I doubt it would have been as big as it turned out to be...but during the promos, they kept on playing Kat's speech and they kept on highlighting her which increased the hype for the film. No matter how much a story may be good, ppl are not gonna pay to watch it unless they are interested. Kat for some odd reason manages to interest folks and she manages to connect with the audiences...something that many other actresses are unable to do.

Again, a film does not depend entirely on her shoulders, but directors and producers use her as great marketing strategy so that folks go ahead and watch their films. I can't hardly imagine why KJO would make use of Katrina in a film which stars Priyanka and Hrithik (apparently the top actors)...Kat must be doing something right...

Hype and promos may generate interest and pull in the initial audience, but isn't enough to make a hit...the promos and hype didn't save Yuvvraaj and De Dana Dan, also Katrina doesn't feature much in the trailers/teasers of ZNMD, and the film centres around three guys, but it still garnered interest and became a hit, but people are quick to give her the credit?.. there is something more to it..

Malaika Arora was also used as a marketing tool to hype the crap out of Dabangg, and she only featured in the song... Katrina is used similar to how Malaika is used to promote films, especially more so now after Sheila Ki Jaawani, they want to recreate that hype and cash in on it..

She is one of the most popular actress today, and does play a contributing factor, i give her that much.. but the success of a film is mainly a team effort.
