Agreed with the bolded part.
Aamir is a good actor, not spectacular but good enough. But his magic lies in script selection. And his sixth sense when it comes to the audience. And now, the audience trusts him, almost blindly. When was the last time Aamir had a bonafide flop? You have to go back YEARS for that. Salman was fast approaching washed up land when he realised that South indian remakes could be the way out. He tried out Wanted, mimicked them in Dabangg and went all out with Ready. Now Kick and The Bodyguard are on the way. All remakes of southern films. I'm a bit more skeptical about Salman because this is working for now. But eventually, the audience will tire of this routine too and then what?
That said, SRK has a lot of catching up to do. Box office wise, he's no longer the king, that's for sure. And critically, his movies haven't been doing well either. And I can't see any imagination from him, Don 2 looks good but he's been there, done that. Ra-1 does not look good. Sorry. And then back to the Yash Chopra camp for yet another love story. What is this, the 90s? There's nothing in his kitty that sounds remotely imaginative or different or even interesting. And that's what is going to keep him behind Aamir and Salman in the coming years.
