Salman Khan donates blood at a camp in Pune

Bollywood actor Salman Khan today donated blood at a camp organised by a city NCP leader to mark the birthday of Maharashtra deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar, and also to facilitate blood supply for the victims ofMumbai blasts.

Hundreds of fans were seen jostling and craning necks to have aglimpse of the actor when he arrived at the camp at Sambhaji Park. Organisers said about 7,000 people donated blood.

Hailing the cause, the actor said, "Blood has no religion," and it is the most precious gift a human being can give.

Anil Bhosale, the NCP leader, said every donor was given a pen-drive as an "encouragement".

Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar has said that he is against celebrating birthday, but the party activists were keen on the event, as it would benefit the society.

The lure of a free 4 GB pen-drive and a dekko of Salman Khan saw the crowds queueing up for the blood donation camp organised on the occasion of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's 52nd birthday at the Sambhaji Garden on J M Road on Thursday.

As 10,000-odd blood donors and Salman Khan fans gathered in front of Sambhaji Park on J M road on Thursday morning, even the one-way traffic was blocked for about an hour despite huge police bandobast.

Police, however, claimed that there was no traffic jam but the traffic was moving slowly for some time. Asked about hundreds of fans running behind the Khan's car which in worst case could have resulted into a stampede, police said they could not control the crowd.

As many as 75 policemen, including five police inspectors, 10 police sub inspectors and 60 personnel from the zone-I of Pune police and five officers and 20 personnel from the traffic control branch were deployed. Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone I) Dnyaneshwar Phadtare said, "Permission for the event was given by PMC. We provided bandobast as per the requirement. I was present there. There was no jam. The traffic was moving slowly."

Salman did realize his mistakes from his past...and doing what he can do the best to help people...so please we all should appreciate what he is doing now... Way to Go Salman!!!
