Female boxing trainer used in Aryan
Debutant director Abhishek Kapoor has left no stone unturned for his maiden venture Aryan due for release in February this year. Abhishek had a couple of boxing trainers fly down specially from Australia to train Sohail Khan and Inder Kumar for a rigorous three weeks. We spoke to Abhishek who said he wanted an international feel in the movie as well as live up to the international standards of boxing.
And what's interesting was that one of the trainers was a female. Amanda Buchanan and Chris surely must have given Sohail and Inder a really tough time in the ring.
Who is Amanda Buchanan?
Amanda Buchanan had her first amateur boxing fight in 1996 in America. That makes her a pioneer of women's boxing in Australia. A former world kick-boxing champion, Amanda's the current Commonwealth Super-Bantamweight professional boxing title-holder. She is also known as 'The Cannon' Buchanan.
Rang De Basanti in a controversy
The release of the much awaited Rang De Basanti might be postponed thanks to the controversy surrounding it. This time it's the Indian Air Force and the Union Home Ministry showing objection to the way they have been depicted in the film. Seems like the officers who have watched the film claim that they have been shown in a bad light and they have demanded that some portions be cut from the film. R Madhavan plays an Air Force Pilot in the film who dies of a MIG-21 crash and the IAF is shown responsible for it.
Well, to sort the matter now, Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee himself will see it at a special screening in New Delhi. Let's hope the issues get sorted out and the film gets a timely release.

| One of the most talked about films this January is the Aamir Khan starrer Rang De Basanti. The makers are leaving no stone unturned for the film's promotions. The cast including the otherwise media shy Aamir Khan will visit university campuses all across the country. They will visit different cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune between January 16 to 21. This campaign has been designed as an interactive session wherein the actors will mingle with the students. The film is set against the backdrop of the University of Delhi. Aamir plays a student who has no goals in life. And his friends have similar attitudes. The producers believe that since the film deals with youth oriented issues, this promotion plan will be perfect. Kunal Khemu in Madhur Bhandarkar's Signal Madhur Bhandarkar has created quite a reputation for making realistic cinema. And everyone is curious about what his next project will be post Corporate. His next venture is titled Signal and will star Kunal Khemu in the lead role. When we spoke to Kunal, he confirmed this information. The film is based on people who meet around the traffic signals in Mumbai. The story has been written by Sachin Yardi. It is said that earlier, Bhandarkar wanted to sign Ajay Devgan and then John Abraham. But after some changes in the script, it was felt that a relatively fresh face was required. And what better choice than Kunal Khemu, who proved his acting prowess with Kalyug. Another score for Kunal! |
