For those who are not in the loop, here are some basic details. 'Rang De Basanti' is a much anticipated film of Aamir Khan after 'Mangal Pandey' which turned to be a downer at the box office. The film is a take on the Indian culture and tradition, interlinking it with the youth of the country, to bring them back to their grass root. The film is conceptualized and directed by Rakesh Mehra who made his first film 'Aks' with Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpai. The music is by A.R. Rehman and it is already sending waves throughout the nation. The promos of the film are already in the air and it is expecting to hit the theatres in January 20th.

But there are more facts about RDB that we never knew until now! Rakesh Mehra had first titled the film as 'Aahuti' before he rechristened it to 'Rang De Basanti'. The script of the film was written keeping Abhishek Bachchan in mind and this was supposed to be his debut film. But J.P. Dutta came out with 'Refugee' at the moment and Rakesh was left with no choice other than to shelve the project.

Sometime later writer Kamlesh Pandey and director Rakesh Mehra once again turned their attention towards the film. The new star cast read Manoj Bajpai, Vivek Oberoi and Atul Kulkarni. But they couldn't meet the demand of the fee that Vivek Oberoi was charging. The film once again got stuck due to this. Luck supported them once again when Aamir Khan came across the script and nodded to work in it. The film started shooting only after 'The Rising' got completed. Rakesh and Kamlesh are at last able to convey the film to the audience.
