Which are the Bollywood films you would recommend to a foreigner/someone who has not seen an Indian film as their introduction to Bollywood and why?

Udaan for sure, Lagaan and to my American girlfriends I always recommend Bride and Prejudice!

some classics like DDLJ to get a feel for mainstream bollywood hits, and OSO to show the self-awareness of the masala genre.

3 idiots and Rang De Basanti as well.

Kal Ho Naa Ho, Devdas, Dhoom 2 (I know😆), Hum Tum, Parineeta, and Salaam Namaste...as you can see, I don't watch many old movies😆
