Hema Malini might replace her in the South Indian multi-starrer film

Nobody says no to Rajinikanth. But Madame Rekha has just done it. The actress has walked out of Rajini starrer Rana due to some monetary issues with the film's producers.

The producers of the film are now planning to rope in Hema Malini for the same role.

The film features South Indian superstar Rajinikanth in a triple role and Deepika Padukone in the female lead. The other two women in the film are yet to be finalised, now that Rekha has dropped out.

According to a source, "Rekha was scheduled to be paired opposite the older Rajinikanth, while Deepika was all set to romance the younger one. However, there have been some monetary issues between Rekha and the producers.

She in not keen to work in the film, unless she is paid what she thinks she deserves. The producers of the film, Ocher Studios, have now spoken to Hema Malini for the role and will be meeting her shortly.

Apparently, Rekha asked for around four crores for the film and the producers were not ready for such a huge amount. That's why Rekha chose to walk out of the film."

When contacted, the official spokesperson of Eros refused to comment on the problems, saying, "We will make an announcement once the casting is done."

Rekha remained unavailable for comments.

Following Rekha out of Rajinikanth's film, Rana, is Vidya Balan. The film that required three actresses for the lead and side roles, now is left with only one, Deepika Padukone.

While Rekha had monetary issues, we hear that Vidya's problems were quite different. The actress demanded to read the full script of the film, which did not go down too well with the director.

A friend of Vidya reveals, "She was well within her rights to ask for the script but maybe, the South Indian director who has Rajinikanth as the leading star in his film did not like that."

So why did two big Bollywood stars opt out of a Rajini starrer? When contacted, director, K S Ravi Kumar had a completely different story to tell. "We haven't gone ahead with Vidya simply because we had a few changes in the script.

This change entailed shortening of the other two female roles, namely, Vidya's and Rekha's," said Ravikumar.

The film, which was supposed to go on the floors in April this year, is still on the lookout for two leading ladies. But the director claims that the script has not been finalised yet. "Well, let the script get finalised. For all you know, we might go back to Vidya," claims he.
