IT raids on Priyanka Chopra, Rs 7.5 cr seized

New Delhi: The Income Tax department on Thursday recovered Rs 7.5 crore from raids on actor Priyanka Chopra's residence.

Sources have told CNN-IBN that Priyanka and her father failed to account for the Rs 7.5 crore seized from actor's residence during the income tax raids.

The income tax raids were conducted on Priyanka Chopra over two days.

Just curious, what is the tax on Income in India?

whoa....7.5 crores!!! oh well...one endorsement and she'll get all the money back anyway...not like its a big deal for them...

From April 1, 2010 new tax slabs apply, which are as follows:

No income tax is applicable on all income up to Rs. 1,60,000 per year. (Rs. 1,90,000 for women and Rs. 2,40,000 for senior citizens of 65 and above and must be resident of india) From 1,60,001 to 5,00,000 : 10% of amount greater than Rs. 1,60,000 (Lower limit changes appropriately for women and senior citizens)
• From 5,00,001 to 8,00,000 : 20% of amount greater than Rs. 5,00,000 + 34,000 ( Rs. 31,000 for women and Rs. 26,000 for senior citizens)

• Above 8,00,000 : 30% of amount greater than Rs. 8,00,000 + 94,000 ( Rs. 91,000 for women and Rs. 86,000 for senior citizens)

Its not too bad IMO. But then again its only the employed middle class that pays taxes. The rich, self employed exploit the loop holes and hardly pay anything.

They are neither poor in the literal sense or any other sense...If you have 7.5 crores lying around in your house, you're definitely not poor...

N if they refuse to pay legitimate taxes, I don't see why someone should feel sorry for them either!!

😆😆 poor girls should learn something from the poor in the country.... they can at least pay their legitimate taxes... it's not like it's a huge amount to them....
