Why was Imran Khan left out?

"Imran had met up with Saif, director Homi (Adajania) and scriptwriter Imtiaz (Ali) several times, where the script as well as dates were finalised. There was no disagreement on anything and the film soon went on floors," revealed a source.

Once the actors, Deepika Padukone and Imran were finalised, it was reported (in October 2010) that the Break Ke Baad pair will be seen in one more film.Following the announcment, Imran left for Las Vegas to shoot for Karan Johar's Short Term Shaadi (STM) with Kareena Kapoor.

"Incidentally this film (STM) has again got delayed due to unknown reasons even though they shot for it in December last year. Suddenly Kareena was informed that the film has been deferred," the source adds. Kareena would've been seen opposite Imran for the first time in this film.

Soon after STM came to another halt (it came to a halt earlier too), Saif has now revealed that he's doing Homi's film. There was no mention of Imran anywhere. Saif and Homi have confirmed earlier that they are in the movie, but till date no 'official' reason has been given for replacing Imran, the original hero of the film.

"Imran knows that he is out of Cocktail (the tentative title of the film) but he's not happy with the way it happened. He still doesn't know who got him out of the film?" informs the source adding that it will be a setback for Imran's career who has lost out on a plum project. Sources also reveal that the scenes earlier shot with Imran will now be reshot with Saif.
