Tees Maar Khan has a megastar like Akshay Kumar, huge hype, and super hit music including chartbuster Sheila Ki Jawaani and this will insure a juggernaut opening on 24th December.

The question as always when a big comes around is will it be a record breaking opening. The record opening weekend till date stands at 48.75 crore nett approx which was set by Dabangg a few months back.

Tees Maar Khan may challenge that total but it will come down to the business that it manages in singles screens of Maharashtra, UP, CP Berar, CI, Rajasthan and Nizam as Dabangg was like an unstoppable hurricane in these areas. The action factor in Dabangg attracted the masses in a big way in these areas.

Multiplex business may well be on par or even slightly better than Dabangg and if Tees Maar Khan gets close to Dabangg numbers in the areas mentioned above then it may be that it crosses the Dabangg weekend record otherwise it may have to settle for a total around the 44-45 crore nett mark. Another factor that could go against the film as far as breaking the opening record is that it will be fourth release of Akshay Kumar this year and records are normally not broken by stars who have releases so frequently.

A 50 crore nett weekend would be a huge achievement by Tees Maar Khan if it was to happen and a great way to end 2010 on a high note.

Media Launches Moviescope: Predicts 50 Cr Weekend For Tees Maar Khan

Mumbai, Dec 19, 2010: Media research and consulting film Ormax Media has predicted that Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan, releasing on Dec 24, is set for a historic Rs. 50 cr opening weekend net collections. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. The box office prediction has been arrived using Ormax Media's newly launched film research tool Moviescope.

Moviescope is a Film Research Engine designed to take care of all the needs of a producer. This includes four components - Ad Pre-Test, Film Pre-Test, Awareness Tracking (Cinematix) and Exit Polls.

Using consumer data on various parameters, Moviescope can predict the opening weekend collections of a film a week before its release, and the Lifetime Box Office (LBO) within three days of release.

Speaking about Moviescope, Shailesh Kapoor, CEO, Ormax Media says: "Moviescope covers various aspects of film research, conducted through a series of quantitative and qualitative techniques. For a producer buying into all four parts of the engine, the opening weekend and lifetime box office can be predicted upto 5-6 months before the release. For other films, Moviescope can make these predictions a week before the release, though early estimates are available upto six weeks in advance."

He adds: "Cinematix has been a very successful product since its April 2010 launch. Encouraged by its success, we have launched Moviescope as our latest endeavour to offer a one-stop product to provide all the answers that producers will need to know about their film's performance."

Tees Maar Khan predictions have been calculated assuming the film will release in about 1600 cinemas. Dabangg, which released in about 1379 cinemas, had an opening weekend of Rs. 49.11 crores net.

Kapoor adds: "The Moviescope model has been tested on various films, and is accurate within 5% error margin. For a 50 cr prediction, 5% means 47.5 to 52.5 Cr. Hence, it may be difficult to say if Tees Maar Khan will indeed overtake Dabangg. But at 1600 cinemas, it seems that the film may just inch past Dabangg by a crore or so. We'll know on Dec 24 on how close this prediction is. But without doubt, Tees Maar Khan is set to become the second biggest opening weekend grosser in Bollywood, if not the biggest."

You never know with Farah Khan movies...they're all really good successes

I'm sure it'll be one of the biggest hits of the year but I don't know if it'll be as good as Dabangg or 3 Idiots

I would never waste my money on this movie in the theater. The only reason it seems even somewhat bearable is because Katrina Kaif looks hot in her new avatar but I can just youtube Sheila ki Jawani for that and not spend $10.
