Shah Rukh Khan to Star in Two States

Shah Rukh Khan has been signed as the male lead in the screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 2 States which is to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

A fresh new face will be introduced as the film's leading lady.

Sajid and Vishal will co-produce the film which will start production in the middle of next year.

In November 2010, the film's producer Sajid Nadiadwala had said the film will be directed by Siddharth Anand and feature Saif Ali Khan as the lead.

Ostensibly the lead star changed with the director. However, industry watchers are intrigued.

Sajid Nadiadwala has so far been perceived as belonging to the Salman Khan camp, just as Karan Johar is perceived as a producer belonging to Salman's industry rival Shah Rukh Khan's camp.

So does Nadiadwala's signing of Shah Rukh for his film signal his falling out with Salman?

Interestingly, Nadiadwala has delayed Kick starring Salman preferring to first focus on his new film with Shah Rukh.

Two States is the story of a Punjabi boy, Krish, and a Tamil girl, Ananya, who meet at IIM Ahmadabad. They fall in love and want to marry, but their parents are opposed to the idea. The story recounts the couple's efforts to carry their parents along, and the eventual success of the efforts.

The plot is inspired by Bhagat's own life - he is from Delhi and his wife, Anusha, from Tamil Nadu - and is narrated as a first person account.

The tag line of the novel is - The story of my marriage.

SRK-Vishal..thats a great combo..been wanting to see this combo since ages..but Two States...?I mean..its about two IIMA graduates...SRK as an IIMA graduate...?Will that be good? We'll have to just see..Aamir played a 22 year old in 3I...so..lets see..dunno..

Ok thanks! Ideal bolly script..😆 I am excited for this movie 😆 I trust Vishal and Shah definitely knows how to handle the commercial aspects 😊
