And by the way I wrote all of this!
Rani Mukherjee has not been in the headlines recently. She has been quite lost in the crowd right now. She's seen at various events and functions, but on a whole she isn't making it to the headlines like she once used to. I believe every actress, or most every actress goes through that phase where they get "lost in the crowd." Her comeback film, Dil Bole Hadippa, didn't do much to help her (although I loved the movie personally). But there are certain actresses that leave a deep impact in our industry, and that impact is such that it never allows us to forget them.
Rani's filmi career came with Raja Ki Aayegi Barat, which didn't do so hot at the box office. Rani wasn't really accepted in the inudstry back then. A lot of criticism was going on about her husky voice. No one thought she'd be able to pull out the actress in her. Coming from a filmi background, I knew she would make it far. I wasn't so much of a Rani fan back during her Kuch Kuch Hota Hai & Ghulam days. I mean I really appreciated her work and thought she would so superb in the film industry, but she just didn't make it to my favorite list. My favorite back in the days was Karisma Kapoor. When my craze for Rani began, even I don't know! There was just something in the actress that really brought me to love her!
Ghulam & KKHH really fared well for the husky actress. Her jodi with Aamir & Shahrukh really got appreciated. And her relationship with these two co stars continued to grow and grow as the days went by.

These two actors really shaped Rani into the actress she is today. And they still all remain friends till this day (which I am so thankful for)!
Then she had films that weren't so much of a hit such as Mehndi, Hello Brother, Badal, Hey Ram, Had Kar Di Aapne, Bichoo, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Kahin Pyar Ha Ho Jaaye, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai, Nayak, and Pyar Deewana Hota Hai. The movies didn't fair too well but her chemistry with her co stars really was amazing!

Rani had her string of flops, but that didn't make her lose hope or confidence. She continued giving brilliant performances one after another. Then came MDK which was an average film. Didn't do too hot, but wasn't too poor.
MDK:

The girl created magic with every co star she worked with. Then came Saathiya, Chalo Ishq Ladaye (which didn't do so well), Chalte Chalte, Calcutta Mail (another movie that didn't do well), Chori Chori, & LOC! Some of these movies did well, while others did not.
Next came Yuva, which was more a success for the actors in the film than the actresses. But Rani got special recognition for her on screen sizzling chemistry with Abhishek Bachchan. Her role was the best out of the actresses and she got the most acclaim for her role!
Yuva:

Then came three amazing super hits in a row, one in which she was supporting actress.

Veer Zaara:

Black (Her best film till date):

Rani received much acclaim for her film Black. SLB gave her such a strong character that it gave me the goosebumps. She portrayed her role magnificently! And her performance in the film was an unforgettable performance. She bagged almost all the awards that year for this film! Def a noteworthy performance & movie!
Then she had Bunty aur Babli, Paheli, Mangal Pandey, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Baabul Tara Rum Pum, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Saawariya, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic, & most recently Dil Bole Hadippa...all which didn't so so well with the box office or the audience.

Rani has emerged as one of the leading ladies of our industry. So what if she's been "lost in the crowd." She has given performances that one can never forget. Now our queen is back with a bang with her latest flick with Vidya Balan. For those that haven't seen it here's the trailer:
