Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: What makes Her So Popular Despite So Many Flops?

November 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, this dainty gal, who mesmerized audiences with her performances in many movies like Josh, Hum Dil Chuke Sanam, Aa Ab Laut Chale, Devdas, Guru, Umrao Jaan etc is considered to be one of the top rated stars in B-town.

According to recent reports in a popular news channel, the lady has only two major hits in her career, namely Hum Dil Chuke Sanam, Guru and Dhoom 2.This is because the other popular films of hers did quite well but were not money churners at the box office! But what makes this gal so popular in spite of the fact that she has major flops in her career?

Almost being seen as a plastic doll, this damsel with her grace and style coupled with her dedicated hard work proved that she was not a gal to be taken lightly. Her radiance, ready to work under difficult conditions, willingness to work, all made her a favorite with the critics as well as the masses.

Ever since this beauty has stepped into tinsel town, she has gone from one milestone to another proving each time that she could only get better with time and innovate herself according to the requirements of the characters she portrayed on screen.

Aishwarya's international projects like Pink Panther 2; Mistress of Spices to mention a couple of them gave her a great new platform to showcase her talent.

This lady from Mangalore has been a darling of the audience as much as she has been in demand by the top filmmakers in the country and is yet not going to hang her boots even three years after getting married!

Her just released flick Action Replayy may not have got great response from the audiences, but still it is being appreciated from International quarters.

Her forth coming flick Guzaarish has her portraying a character of an older woman and her look with simple state-of-the-art wardrobe.

Well flops and hits are a part and parcel of an actor's life. It is the hard work and dedication that counts.

Not taking anything away from her but if I had to put in One word about why Ash is still popular then it would be:- Bachchan(surname.)

I strongly disagree! 😛She wouldn't have lasted over 13 years in the industry if that was the case! Most of her career, her looks have overshadowed her acting. But, she did not have the conventional debut that a normal Indian heroine has! She debuted in a Tamil film (Iruvar) and had her first big hit in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam a few years later. And all the films I mentioned were not flops by any means! Hate her or love her! But you gotta admit, she has worked with so many big directors and different genres of films! I know her Bollywood films (like Action Replayy) have not done well, but Guzaarish is releasing next week and I smell a lot of critical acclaim! I don't think it will be a big hit or anything, but Aish is way past hits and flops! She has had her share of critical and commercial acclaim! Now, in this next level of her career, she is going to focus on performance-oriented roles (with Shyam Benegal and Vishal Bhadwarj). Another big hit will not matter for her! She is way past hits and flops. If she had it her way, she could be gone a couple of years and that would not matter. I am sure whatever next film she does, it will get noticed and a lot of attention no matter what! 👏

so true for so many reasons...but i wish she were like aamir..he knows what will work and what won't...I think sometimes ash doesn't get the sense of what works and what doesn't!!!

whateff....love her and her films...plus she's super versatile!!!

If people like you as an actor/actress, then a few flops here and there isn't going to effect your stardom or image. And when are we going to stop attributing a single factor as the sole reason behind a person's success (or failure)? It's not that simple. A lot of factors come into play behind every occurring.
