Hollywood and it's fascinations. 😆
After studying films, and grasping what sort of cinema there is out today, I think I am completely indifferent now toward the First World Cinema, and that includes Hollywood, Bollywood. I ask who will be the next in Bollywood or Hollywood to generate second world cinema or even the third world cinema that unfortunately never makes it to the theaters near us due to the restrictions they are faced with. Films like Rachida, Inch'Allah Dimanche, Le silence de la fort, Viva Laldjerie are usually funded by the French government since they are faced with economic censorship in the African continent; and, they are hardly catered to large audiences due to the limitations....but if we are in the rat's race, and one must imitate the other (As you suggest...Bollywood must imitate Hollywood in order to be sectioned in the "superior"), then why not have a look at beyond Hollywood?
PS - Anyhow, I like the distinction between Hollywood, Bollywood, Second World cinema; and there's no need to emulate....Bollywood has attempted that in the past and failed quite miserably. There have been several thought provoking and exclusive films even in Bollywood (Maqbool, Dev D, Hazaaron Khwashain Asee, Kaminey, Iqbal)....hundred others I am unaware of. It's just they do not gain the commercial success or aren't catered to a large audience, hence the films are not given their proper credit. Hollywood churns out 75 percent of the times utter trash as well...to name one from the top of my head is Twilight.
(To answer on the topic itself: Nahh, no other can be the next Gaga....she even beat Obama!)
