omigosh really??? so kareena and priyanka are younger to her???? i guess it was wrong on my part to assume that just because she debuted later on, she was younger.......thanks anyway! 😊

she does look beautiful in that video! 😳

yup she is a good actor but i really can't say her the best ! .. She was a big letdown in her commercial movies ... no matter wat one thinks abt commercial movies .. to be judged as best actor she needs to excel in those movies aswell !

^^yes people think acting in commercial movies is a piece of cake...but one needs charisma, flamboyance and attitude to do such films....the characters are not as well etched so they need to put in extra thought into how to perform it and there is a tendency to go OTT, so thez an added challenge of not hamming to the point of irritating the audience. Plus, there are so many more requirements such as dancing, comic timing etc required to do masala movies. Its not as easy as it seems.

Technically her so-called commercial movies like Kismat konnection and hey baby have done well... KK was above average-sem-hit and hey baby was a big big hit.. and i thought she was great in both movies.. and i think she can do commercial roles too. And I personally don't think that one has to ace every genre to be adjurned as a great actor.. and when out and out commercial actors get respect and all the adultation.. then why can't actors who do well in slighty diff genres get appreciated. And who says that Paa and Parineeta are not commercial movies.. they havve been enjoyed at the box office by a lot of people so they are commerical. And I just don't get this mindset that unless you wear certain sort of attire and run around trees.. then you cannot be considered a commercial or a compele actor.. and look at ishqiya also she was freakin bold in that movie.. way sexier than many chicks who take help of fashion and clothes to show off sex appeal.. I personally think its about attitude and acting.. you don't have to be a certain way.. or you don't have to ape west.. to be so called hip or cool.. you can be hip and cool with your own attitude.. wearing any clothes from anywhere.

^^@madmoiselle i agree in parts....

firstly heyy babyy and KK were hits yes...but vidya was hardly given any credit or acclaim in those films....it was more about akki and shahid's adulation...ppl infact told vidya that she was trying hard to look "western" which she shouldn't because thats not her...and im glad she found her comfort level in movies like paa and ishqiya....

and yes...everyone has their niche and actors from commercially and critically acclaimed cinema must be equally appreciated. But u have to realize that rite now...vidya recieves appreciation...but not adulation... no one denies vidya is a good actor ....she fits into "indian cinema" perfectly....but she doesn't fit into "Bollywood" if you get what i mean...to get the kind of adulation that a madhuri, or a sridevi, or a priyanka, or a kareena get, actors need to be able to balance both of these sides of hindi cinema....the completely crazy masala side and the "i-can-bloody-well-act" progressive cinema side.....because then they are loved by all sectors of the audience, which is what gives them mass appeal.

Hopefully, she gets it right with her upcoming releases (extremely excited for Iti Mrinalini).

Vidya is a good actress, as are Kangana and Chitrangada but regretfully, they don't have a lot of good movies lined up (Vidya, Kangana), are doing projects with shitty scripts that waste their talent (Kangana) or projects that don't ever see the light of day (Chitrangada). It's more than a little frustrating. Not a doubt in my mind that they lead in the acting department but their movie choices leave a lot to be desired.

I am sorry I forgot her. She was brilliant in her debut gangster , woh lamhe and other movies... I love this actor.
I hated her in shakala laka though!
Kangana is great!
