Rishi Kapoor remembers Mohammed Rafi
Rishi Kapoor is a veteran actor, and everyone loves him till date. He was popular for his romantic and rockstar image. Very few know that Rishi Kapoor also has an interest in music. He loves music, and his days start and end with music.
"There was a time when music was pure. It had to have ragas in it. The songs which where based on ragas used to sound good, and that's the reason why we still remember those songs. But today a song releases and becomes a hit, and we forget them when we hear the next song," says Rishi Kapoor.
We caught up with Rishi Kapoor on the 30th death anniversary of Mohammed Rafi, when his son, Shahid Rafi, launched a music academy called Mohammed Rafi Academy, where Rishi attended as a guest. We asked Rishi his favorite Rafi songs, and here is what he has to say…
Pukarta Chala Hoon Main:- This is one of my favorite song by Mohammad Rafi. Beautiful words. Still listen to it whenever I am in a happy mood.
Khoya Khoya Chaand :- Its one of the best song ever, with great music and taal from the film Kala Bazaar. It's a romantic song, and I should also mention the lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri who has written the lyrics and, of course, Rafi sahib has given his golden voice.
Aye Watan:- This is one of the patriotic songs which Rafi sahib has sung. When you listen to it, you get that patriotic feeling from inside. I guess its because of the singer who has sung it, who has put his love for his country In it.
Kya Hua Tera Waada:- I was lucky that Rafi sahib has even sung for my films. One of my favorites from my film Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi called Kya Hua Tera Wada. It was one of the best romantic and sad songs of that time. Rafi sahib had a voice that suited all stars of all ages.
