Raavan.
One word that says it all. This spectacular flop has shown even Mani Ratnam can make a mistake. An actor is only as good as his last movie, so just why is Abhishek 'Overacting' Bachchan being offered a whopping acting fee now?
Stock expressions.
Typically, Abhishek has five expressions and can rarely move beyond them (except when he is the foil to hunk John Abraham)! The glare. The frown. The grimace. The mocking half-smile. The soppy-in-love full smile. This is working out to more than a crore an expression. That's crazy math!
No fan magnet.
Unfortunately, Abhishek still remains very much his father's son and wife's husband. The crowds don't exactly flock to the movies drawn by Abhi's solo star power. So this seems a totally overblown fee for the least popular Bachchan.
A poor 2010.
This has been a shocker of a year for producers so far with mega budget films such as Kites and Raavan (that name again!) crashing at the box office. It's time for some sensible forecasting and spending. That means it's time to pay the actors what they deserve. So… it's time NOT to pay Abhishek Bachchan Rs7 crores for one film!
