People think its easy to play that image of chirpy, vivacious girl in movies and anyone can do it and that is what priety did all the time. But, I would say naa.. playing that character also takes a lot of talent.. and I personally think you gotta be cool and chirpy in real life to be able to bring that character on screen.. coz so many actresses seem to try too hard when they try those sorta roles. There have been actresses who have fallen flat on their faces trying to play innocent, chirpy and giggly characters by seeming wannabes and trying too hard and overacting.. so no what priety did cannot be said to be walk in the park. I love priety as an actress and also as a strong independent girl. She totally rocked the 90s.

well said!even i always think y sm people think playing bubbly chirpy n innocent character is a piece of cake(or its all abt being loud or rash acting!)..n not every one can do wt she did in all those movies..she sure makes it seem so effortless but it sure can't be so easy!n one dsnt always have to cry n be serious in roles for it to be excellent acting!

i love her for both the talented actress in her n for the amazing person she is.

I liked her role in Veer Zaara. In most of her movies, she played a chirpy, modern, cute girl. In Veer Zaara, she was the opposite - traditional, humble, womanly. I would have loved to see her do more roles like that. But anyway, I loved the way she played all her characters in her movies. We need more Preity-type entertainment because there is no other actress like her today. I don't care if she is older, she's still beautiful and can show off talent like no other.

I don't know, somewhere down the line, I never felt Preity has given her career best performance yet. She can do so much better, I just know it. At times, she's just been overshadowed (see Rani in Veer-Zaara, because in KANK I thought Preity's character was still more impactful) and at other times, I personally never really connected with the emotions she tried to portray (Salam Namaste! Her knowing she was pregnant in Kya Kehna was so much better portrayed, but then, maybe it was supposed to be so too!)

For me, the role that worked the most was Armaan. I felt she was brilliant in there, it's not only difficult to play a psycho, but tough to do so well. And her last scene in the movie with Anil, where she kind of "frees" him, promises him she won't be after him, is beautifully done.

For me, Lakshya worked too, although I guess you didn't include that because her role was short. But it still did. That movie on the whole was an epic I felt. I still wonder why people didn't like it then...

Kal Ho Na Ho was good, but that was the first time I noticed the actor in Saif Ali Khan, so I didn't pay much attention to other actors as I guess I should have. I still believe Kal Ho Na Ho was a landmark movie for him, not Dil Chata Hai.

So yeah, I'll go with Armaan. You should include an "Others" option. Some people might have liked some other role better!

True there. I never found anything exceptional in her acting. But that said, she was never bad either. I think she was really impressive in her debut film...Dil Se.

Biography

Preity Zinta, the zing thing of the Bollywood, was born on 31st Jan 1974. The Delhiite who hails from a defence background, had already made her mark as a model while still in school & shot to fame as the refreshing, cool, wet model in the Liril ad. This, along with her mischievous expressions and twinkling eyes in the Cadbury's Perk ad brought her to Shekhar Kapur's notice. The famed director was then looking for fresh faces to launch his film 'Tara Rum Pum Pum'. Preity signed on the dotted line, but the film never took off. However, her name was already doing the industry rounds and she bagged a couple of films in quick time.

Luckily for Preity, 'Dil Se..' was her first release. The film bombed at the box-office, but Preity's dazzling smile and pleasant disposition in a small but significant role left behind a decidedly happy impression. With 'Dil Se..' Preity had already proved she could act. 'Soldier' (1998) and 'Sangharsh' (1999) have merely reiterated this fact. In the former she played an impish, spoilt rich girl with great conviction. In the latter she was equally at ease executing the part of a gritty young CBI trainee in search of a dreaded killer. She made a mark in the industry with her film "Kya Kehna".

In 2003, Zinta had two smash hits films, Koi... Mil Gaya and Kal Ho Naa Ho. She is currently among the most successful actresses in Bollywood, having made it without any relation to the industry. In the year of 2003, she won many awards for her role as "Naina" in the film, Kal Ho Naa Ho. She also won herself another Filmfare Award but this time in the popular award category. Since then she has appeared in two other box office hits (Veer-Zaara and Salaam Namaste).

She joined a group of top stars (Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal, and Priyanka Chopra) in the Temptation 2004 concert, which was a huge international success.

Preity, a graduate in Psychology, is so pretty, outspoken and a beautiful actress-dancer who keeps smiling all the time with a dimple on her right cheek. She acted in Tollywood too. She dated Marc Robinson, one of the hottest models in India, Model and TV anchor (2001) now, broke up with Marc Robinson

Zinta also writes monthly columns for BBC South Asia.

Preity Zinta was spotted on the cannes 60th international film festival. Preity was seen wearing a pretty, classic, gold western styled dress and dazzled all with her dimpled smile and bubbly personality.

Do we ever not agree on anything? 😆

Definitely POH, she was never bad either. At least she can act, something which, I could easily say, half of the present generation, or more, of actors are not capable of doing. The 90s and early 00s were high in terms of performances. I wonder when again we'll have THAT many movies at one go with such wonderful performances. We have more intelligent movies now, definitely, as well as more mature storyline and more impactful plots, but I still think we don't have better acting... Barring one or two genuine actors.
