Well, if she wasn't "good" then I blame Prakash jha for that! After all he was the captain of the ship and from the interviews and stuff I was able to pick the fact that he didn't work that hard with Katrina.. I remember that incident that she narrated that they were supposed to shoot for one scene but instead they were shooting for another that day and Kat even volunteered to pay for the cancellation of the shoot so that she could prepare well for the scene. Jha should have known that Kat had trouble with Hindi and he should have worked harder with her!! but I guess he was more worried to finish the movie and stuff.. But, anyways.. its great that Katrina got a chance to work with such a great team of actors.. I'm sure she will gain from the experience.. but still I wish Prakash jha would have worked harder with her and extracted a better performance!! Soo.. a breakthrough performance still pending from Queen Kat.. aah!! Maybe some other director/movie then I guess!!

It may be a bitter pill to swallow for most people but considering sheer box-office clout among female actresses, there is no one to challenge Katrina right now. Most of the trade reports that I have read on Rajneeti is focused on the idea that if it weren't Ranbir-Katrina who were promoted so heavily in the promos, this film would have garnered an average to below-average opening. Call her a lucky mascot or a beautiful show-piece, but the evidence is pretty incontrovertible that Katrina is synonymous to box-office bonanza. And Prakash Jha was very astute to play his trump card with such wile and shrewdness.

Coming back to this movie, I am amazed by the fact that a movie with no reigning superstar Khan, a non-family-friendly and non-masala-entertainer genre, no superhit blockbuster music single, no opportunistic Bollywood tweets before it's release, no catchy, over-the-top promotional gimmick (like Ghajini haircuts for all or ShivSena fiasco) and finally almost no expectations from box-office analysts like Kmal Nahata (he declared it a flop even before its release) Rajneeti stands to be among the top 5 Bollywood grosser. Really amazing.

Katrina is the Asha Parekh of our times. She is very very lucky for the film period. Good for her.
I am actually thankful Mr Jha didnt turn Rajneeti into a romantic political movie (sic) I was worried by the promos but looks like he stuck to what he does best. This time tho he marketed his movie very well. He drew the audience to the theaters and then let his movie do the talking. None of his other movies even if they were better than Rajneetio had such a good opening. So this gamble worked - big time. i dont think a dark movie such as this has ever had such an opening in Bollywood.

some people just don't want to admit that katrina is the lucky mascot. audiences are drawn towards her like moth to a flame. she is definitley doing well and is good for the industry. if it weren't for ranbir and katrina, this movie would do average buisness. agree or not, the girl is made for bollywood.

just came back from Rajneeti....woow what a strong movie it was...it was intense, powerfull, impressive...it really left an impact on me!

First things first: RANBIR KAPOOOR! 👏 Yaarr i have been his fan from day one since Saawariya...but this performance! Totally applaud worthy really, he is just INCREDIBLE, kya talent hai....he acted so serious, so brilliantly, so perfect...the whole films belongs to him, he stole the whole show! After SRK he def IS the next big superstar!

the story itself was gripping, i am not interested in politics so i really hoped i would not get bored...but it was really interesting! The thing i liked the most is that you dont know what is going to happen! Its totally unpredictable!
And you know it was very hard too chose sides, because i felt sorry for Ajay or Manoj, but at the same time i was rooting for Ranbir or Arjun, each and every character was soo good!

now to come back on the rest of the performances...everyone portrayed his/her character beautifully and equally good, Arjun was like everyone said totally HOT, and his performance was fantastic, Ajay and Manoj were TRULY amazing and Katrina, well she was good, it was nice to see her in a de glam role!
I want to see the movie again! Definitly recommended for everyone, i think Ranbir has delivered his career best performance, he really deserves a lot of praise and awards for this one!

Films like Raajneeti give hope to our Film Industry!
Ofcourse, it has its share of faults...no film is perfect! Not even an Oscar winner...but the fact that a non-mainstream director took on non-mainstream actors (as someone mentioned, no Khans and Ranbir is just coming up!) and put them in a highly unconventional story (as per bollywood standards) and succeeded so well is cause for applause!
Katrina's role was very short, but she did what was given to her! Lets admit it, Raajneeti is a film about alpha-males all round and even if they had taken any national award winning actress instead of Kat, the result would have been nearly the same! An actor is limited if his or her role is limited and similarly an actor blooms, if his or her role is written well. Look at Ajay Devgun, such a good actor...but his role was half-baked in Raajneeti and hence he paled in comparsion to the likes of Ranbir, Arjun, Manoj and Nana!
Arjun Rampal is the best example. Prior to Rock On, he was only known for his smouldering good looks, but give him the character of Joe Maschareneus in Rock On or Prithviraj Pratap in Raajneeti, and the guy steals the show with his acting!
Katrina was very good in Namaste London, because it was a role which suited her well...and if Prakash Jha had fleshed out Indu Pratap's character a little more, she could have achieved the same results here! Never been a fan of her, but have to acknowledge that the woman must have something in her to succeed like this! Call it luck, talent, good-timing...whatever, the girl has the Midas Touch!
Raajneeti is an overall solid film, with a good storyline, well executed script, great peformances and some really intelligent marketing strategies! It fully deserves to get both the critical and commerical acclaim that is being lauded on it!

Raajneeti All Set To Emerge A Blockbuster

Tuesday 8th June 2010 10.30 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Raajneeti held up very well on Monday with around 6.25 crore nett business. This takes the four day business of the film to 40.25 crore nett. The film is set emerge a big blockbuster in India and even has a chance to do All Time Blockbuster business.

The first week nett total should be in the 54-55 crore range and with no competition in week two the film will have a very healthy second week. North India is super strong with just 30% drop from Friday.

Although its too early to tell, looking at the acceptance and trending of the film it would be no surprise if the finished with a lifetime nett total of around 90-100 crore. In terms of distributor share this would put it around the 50 crore mark with only Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Gadar, Ghajini and Three Idiots ahead in the all time list.

Why do we criticize kat so much? I understand she has good luck but she is working hard too. Just having beauty doesn't bring you success. Entire Nation watches her movie and i don't remember when he last movie was flop, it was average but don't remember being flop.
I am not her fan or like her but have to give her credit for trying something new. From boom to Namaste London, New York to APKGK and if you notice in each movie her role were different. She is taking risks and trying something new so give her credit. She loves her work and family, one thing she has proved, she is here to Stay not with her exposure or item number but willing to take risks and explore herself as an actor.
P.S i haven't watched Raajneeti yet, but i am sure she did a wonderful job.
