^^^^lol, one scene that's famous with young and old (well at least in my family and friends circle šŸ˜†)
So this week let's talk about DDLJ; a movie regarded as a classic.
  • What did you like about the movie (if anything at all)?
  • If you didn't like it, why didn't you?
  • Any scene you really liked? Why?
  • What was your favorite song in the movie?
  • Why do you think it's considered a classic?
  • Talk about the characters (not just Raj and SimranšŸ˜›)
  • Anything else you'd like to discuss about the movie?

Ok, last week Swati asked you guys to give out options on movies you'd like to discuss but none did ji. So this time, I'll lessen the work and give you 2 movies to decide from:

3 Idiots
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron
So if you guys don't decide, I'll just pick my favoritesTongue. Chalo shuru ho jao ji, discuss karo!
Take care,
Bollywood DevTeam

Wow!!! lovely topic!!!
DDLJ is my favourite film, and till date no other film has been able to replace it...i don't know what made me fall in luv with this film, was it Raj, SImran, both or what? its simplicity appealed to me...i still have a smile on my face when i just hear the name...even today, whenever they show the film on TV, i still watch it with the same interest...
  • What did you like about the movie (if anything at all)?

i believe the film was a complete package, be it the love story, relationships, songs, picturisation, timing, everything was just so perfect!!! n it made me a die hard SRK-Kajol fan...

  • If you didn't like it, why didn't you?

I loved the film, so this question is not valid for me atleastšŸ˜‰.

  • Any scene you really liked? Why?

There are many scenes, a few of my favourite scenes- where SRK says "Raj beta agar yeh tujhse pyaar karti hai, toh paltengi, palat...palat" n then Kajol turns back, i still remember clapping in the theatre when this scene had come.

The countless times SRK says,"bade bade desho mein aisi chote chote baatein hote rahte hai"
SRK, Kajol, Farida Jalal scene where Farida tells SRK to run away with Kajol...šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘...
Amrish Puri n Kajol scene, where Kajol takes his permission to tour Europe....i found it really emotional....
Amrish Puri n SRK, kabutar scenesšŸ˜†šŸ˜†...
the karvachauth scene😳
the scene where SRK(Raj) asks Kajol(Simran), 'pyaar karti ho mujhse, bharosa hai..."
the climax scene where Raj's truth is revealed, Babuji slaps Raj, n Simi cums running down the stairs...tat scene was too gud...
Finally the scene where babuji says,'ja Simran ja...iss ladke se jyaada pyaar tujhe koi nahi kar sakta...!!!"
Anupam Kher n SRK interaction...
  • What was your favorite song in the movie?
All the songs...particulary Tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam...i also liked ghar aaja pardesi tera desh bulaye re....
  • Why do you think it's considered a classic?

i don't think another DDLJ can ever be created, nor can we ever have another Raj-Simran jodi,ever...maybe thats why its considered a classic....

  • Talk about the characters (not just Raj and Simran).

Raj: SRK as Raj was just too gud, he made me lugh, he made me cry...his character was imperfect yet it seemed so perfect. he was a spoilt brat, yet he knew his limitations...he carried a different aura n charisma which is uncomparable...Kudos to SRK....

Simran: What should i say about Kajol, she was simply brilliant, her interactions with not only SRK, but also Farida n Amrish made us fall for her...she was simply brilliant in all the scenes...
Babuji:Amrish Puri, he was the perfect babuji, strict yet caring, in the end like a typical father, all that mattered to him was his family n childrens happiness...
Farida Jalal: Perfect mom...she symbolised a true Indian mom to many, her helpness for her daughters happiness just to satisfy her husbands ego was too gud...her motherly presence did the trick!!!!
Chutki: Kajol's younger sis...man, she was too gud speaking her ,'Ms Lucy..." one liners...even wen she said,'...mujhe yeh jhatwala jyada acha lagta hai..."
Anupam Kher: his comic timing was too gud, specially wen he was responnsible for the confusion between Preeti n Simran...
Satish Shah:even though a small cameo...his work was effortless n too gud...
Parmeet Sethi: his first film, and he impressed, still remember his gabroo jawan antics...too gud...
Mandira Bedi: her first film, decent job done...
dadiji: she was too gud...
Hemani Shivpuri: she rocked as buaji...
cameos by others like Kajol's friends, KJo, Anand, then the family at Punjab, the swiss chakoo, the cow's bell...made this film really memorable...Aditya Chopra, full credit to you!!!!
  • Anything else you'd like to discuss about the movie?
DDLJ...come fall in love...
Thanks for this lovely post....

What did you like about the movie (if anything at all)?

I love the movie, lots of things from the detail they went to showing the uk house and things in it impresses me each time i see it. Apart from that i love the story because its still a unique story and different to usual love story and for characters based in the uk. Love the songs for it as well..infact pretty much everything like screenplay.

Any scene you really liked? Why?
There are a few scenes one where simrans mum tells them to run away and raj refuses to because i thought it was really different and go raj lol along with this the karva chauth scenes in the film were cutest scenes in the film.

What was your favorite song in the movie?
Tujhe dekha tu Jana

Why do you think it's considered a classic? Because i think its still a really different movie for today, along with songs are classic, also fact must be that people till find it entertaining and connects with audience today as well.

Talk about the characters (not just Raj and Simran)
Raj is hilarious and really lovely past that exterior which is seen at the start, and simran character has a fiesty side which is show when they go on the europe trip. They work really well together..and love fact they are not shown as bratty kids as most in the movies are especially from abroad (i.e namaste london)

3 idiots good choice for next week :)

Thanks for opening the topic ---
One thing I did catch recently about DDLJ is when Raj was about to attend to the ceremony to get his degree -- he jumped into a Lamborghini LOL --- a bit over the top even for a rich spoilt brat -- That was a bit ridiculous that scene...
The scenes with his father were funny & sweet....
I like the trip concept --- the antagonism between the lead characters and the fact everyone was so young.....The acting was good and the direction was also...
The one bit about how Hindustani gals are pure and their will to remain pure before mariage and how the "other" gals don't give importance to their "purity" was an OFFENSIVE comment towards non indian girls and I feel ill at ease each time I see that scene..so well his spanish ex GF could do the nasty with him (it's normal) but with Hindustani gals -- he behaves like a gentleman yeah right LOL
The songs were really entertaining ---- but the end is wayy too overdramatic - the gun scene/beating up sequence is WTF --- how the hell did the gun end up in his hands....
And the constant need to make you cry buckets of water is tiring....
I like the Switzerland landscape....and I like the goofiness of Raj....
The story was good --- "moral" (to please everyone) - entertaining - and it matched a context in which some NRIs guys wanted only indian girls to get married to at this time...so a lot of people understood the movie in that sense...India is good India has values..;ok we know!
I have to say that I never like when in a hINDI MOvie they need to "prove" that indian people are good people compared to british people or that their culture is the best....like they have something to fix with History...
Ok american do it also but in more subtle way...
What I like the most in the movie is that I never get bored watching it....
and I'm touched by the acting of the lead actors....They put their souls in the characters and they shared really sth intense with the audience.....
To SRK fans no need to cringe...

Omygosh I just loved the movie.. it just defined the way we saw the development of love.. It was a complete entertainment package.. there wasn't just one thing I can point to that was incredibly amazing since there were several themes taking part at the same time... such as the love for the country one was born in and longing to go back and then how two people meet due to circumstances ( ahh the EurotripšŸ˜)
Most importantly SRK & Kajol were the leads 🤪 The songs were melodious and we still sing them !
