SRK was funny.. as usual. But, He is REALLY aging dreadfully. His face looks like a melting candle. I was watchng some clips of the 2007 Filmfare show and he looked at least a decade younger then.

I think they should stop taking digs at movies that didn't work. Instead they should focus on celebrating the movies that were nominated and if they need to make fun they need to make fun of the nominated movies/actors/actresses. Why degrade those who are not successful in the box office? This is not the awards for the worst movies....it is the award for best movies....focus on themmm! I really don't get it!!

This is exactly the kind of jokes that need to stop! It puts too much focus on hits and flops and less focus on the quality of the movie itself. Why can't BW get over this trend? They want to go international yet still stuck on who made more money! 😕

Exactly my point. Does anyone how this joke started? I don't find it in good taste at all. I don't understand why hrithik would say such statement, i mean he hasn't given a flop from many years now and won many awards, so why so bitterness? Why did he said Saif's Kurbaan/ Why not Love Aaj Kal?

I think this time srk and saif had to be more cautious coz of the recent stance on making fun of ppl at award shows. So somewhere, I guess they were more careful this time. They didnt dare cross boundaries this time, lol
And I think the Neil bit was an attempt to do what they did with Akki last year. But Akki's an experienced actor/performer. He's a pro at comedy so he was effortless in his skit with srk and saif. poor neil is too inexperienced and it didnt make sense when he said htat. It came off looking too serious, when it shoudl have been what happened with akki last year where srk and saif came to pull his leg during the performance.

The Akki episode was completely different from the Neil episode....The whole episode on Akki was really funny and we know it was staged and Akshay had agreed to participate in it. but I just dont get the Neil episode..y would Shah Rukh ask Neil to say shut up to him? They showed it like something serious happened with the sudden pause and focusing on the celebrities reaction...it sucked..felt like reality drama..
We cant blame Neil for this, he was just asked to utter those lines. But in the end it makes him look bad, coz for those viewers who dont know that this was staged would think Neil is insulting Shah Rukh.

The awards were alright I think. Saif and SRK tried. The Neil thing kind of fell flat because I think he was just too nervous to really make it obviously comic.

And yes I am also tired of the same jokes about movies that flopped. The Kurbaan, Kites, Billu thing and then SRK's blue blue blue with the Shark joke. Agree with Lifeolicious...there is just too much focus on talking about the monetary aspect at awards. Like Sajid Khan's joke at SFK where he made digs at critics for not "predicting" box office performances of films. Umm...that is not their job.

That rant aside...I think Saif and SRK did pretty well for themselves. They were better in previous years but alright here. All the performances were bad except for Shahid's. I actually don't remember what Katrina did on stage except maybe walk around a bit. Deepika got really bad choreography and she just looked uncomfortable at times. Kareena's was repetitive. I switched off the TV after her performance because the endless ads on Sony were frying my brain. So don't know how Salman did.

The highlight was Shahid's performance for me (obviously). I was actually worried that doing a tribute to MJ could be an epic fail. And he did it live. But he was amazing. Its the best performance I have seen at awards in years. His best for sure. The 8 minutes went by so fast....I was left wishing for more. Also loved how Hrithik was cheering for him.

Well.. when it is fair game to take personal digs at someone's relatonships or dress sense, jokes about flop movies will still be par for the course. if Vidya Balan could be humiliated and lampooned with a fake award for being the worst-dressed female in front of mllions on a nationally-televised show, jokes about success or faiure of movies seem really tame to me. After all the show is about awarding prizes to movies... not to discuss flim-stars personal lives, especially when the person at the receiving end of the joke has no way of responding without looking like a wet blanket or a spoil sport.

^Zaru I didn't mean to criticize Hrithik for saying that. It's the kind of jokes that BW actors make all the time. I haven't seen the show so I don't know the context....but I hear such jokes being made all the time and I think it needs to stop.

Wanted to add I don't think Boman Irani deserved a nomination for his 3 Idiots performance forget winning but he gives the best speeches. Loved how he spoke at Star Screen and even more here. Would have felt even better if it was for an actual good performance.
