Trust me, I adore Salman. He's one of the few honest actors out there, and he does have a heart of gold.
BUT, just because critics bashed his movies, doesnt mean that they're jealous. Here's a member review from filmifanatics of a guy who saw Veer. And he's an average cine goer, not some critic.
Veer
Speechless.
I've always maintained that it's easier to criticise something than praising it.
But today, Veer proved me wrong.
I'm speechless.
I have no idea where to start this review.
Zero expectations.
Zero quality from the promos.
And what did these two result in?
One of the trashiest nonsensical over-the-top atrocious garbage films in the history of Hindi cinema.
It's an epic film for sure- an epic disaster.
Where did it go wrong? How did it go wrong? Didn't the makers realise what was happening? Where were the script writers? How could anyone trust Salman Khan with the story?? All the questions will remain unanswered.
To cut a long story short, Veer is a humongous opportunity gone terribly, terribly wrong.
Nothing works. Period.
The story/script are full of loopholes and wtf scenes. The whole Mithun sending his two sons to London was BS. The whole part when two anpar gawar suddenly start talking in English was BS. The whole thing of having a special class for ''Tribal'' students and an angrez Hitler as Professor was BS. The whole scene when Veer kills 50 british soldiers in a Royal Party and kills the Prince of Mandargh or whatever it's called AND goes back to India without anyone stopping him is BS. Add all the Sohail Khan and the random english girls scenes and the whole of them were BS. Veer fighting his uncle was BS. Veer fighting his father was BS. The entire climax was BS.
Basically, the whole film was... BULLSHIT
I should have trusted my 1st feelings about this film but I still dragged Mum today because I was dying to go to the cinema. Dude, this is one of the worst films I ever saw. Asoka, Jodha Akbar, MANGAL PANDEY and heck even KHISNA was better than Veer. =//
Action was nothing new. Cinematography was a letdown. None of them managed to make me go ''Wow''. They were tacky. Just doesn't work. Especially not after you've seen incredible stuff in films like Jodha Akbar. How dare the makers claim the stuff in Veer is International standards?? Background score was excellent and songs decent [Surili Ankhiyon Wali- Brillant and well used] but none of the songs were needed.
The performances sucked.
Salman shines as an actor. Yups. He's such an all-rounder. In Veer, he shows how to act, overact and underact (if that's a term?). Dang man, he was inconsistent!! Some of his expressions were good but there were times when his face went blank. No expressions. And how can I forget his OTT dialogue delivery when he fights?!? He's a weird actor.
Katrina Kaif will be one heck of a happy girl when she'll watch Veer. Finally a newcomer who'll sooner or later come up to her and ask for acting tips. Zarine Khan will need loads and loads of tips. She's a complete fiasco. Her voice was dubbed by the same girl who usually dubs for Katrina. Most of the time, you'll see Zarine smiling. That's all what she does. At least Katrina gives good expressions, Zarine failed to churn out more than...2 expressions.
Sohail Khan PUKE WORTHY. He was annoying. Crass role. Crass performance.
Jackie Shroff makes a fool out of himself. Rididulous role he's been given.
Mithun was the one who was the most ''bearable'' and consistent. Very natural and very restrained. If only Salman took some tips..
No message whatsover in the film. Instead, it just makes a fool out of Pandaris.
At the Box-office, no chance of a recovery.

Everyone has their own tastes, yeah? And good actors also do bad films. It shouldnt be taken to mean everyone's against sallu. Infact, I owudl say, sallu has garnered a very loyal group of friends. Remember Being Human. They all showed up in support. 😊
