This is certainly no dig at a fandom or anything but recently I have been noticing in the different forums a peculiar usages of adjectives by fandoms. I remember back in the days when I used to be active in Tellywood forums I believe I overused the term "hoxy." I wonder why I thought that was the coolest thing since sliced bread? Nowadays the prevelant term I believe are "hawt." Or the even funkier "a sexy sexy." How did they come about? At what point does it become naseauting or is it just cute? Oh and I needed someone to clarify the usage of Shona? I believe some Sonam fans use it..is it a term of endearment?

Anyways, like I said this is certainly no dig at any fandoms because I have certainly done it.

Its stupid. People think they're soo cool because they have a special nickname for their celeb.
Shona means sweet .. so I guess that's why Sonam fans use it .. So is "a sexy sexy" I believe that came about when the song "Mein Teri Dhadkan" was introduced. Its just so cool you know.

Shona isnt just fandon language..I think. I've heard and used tht word myself a few times in form of endearment. Shona..shonu...tht kind.

A sexy sexy is from the Ajab prem song. It;s sounds so weird though, I'd never use it 😆

This made me laugh. Not because it's a funny topic, but because of the possibilities of this topic becoming another epic.

First of all, I don't think anybody has any right whatsoever to judge people on how they talk. As the topic starter has told us, that they have already outgrown that age or that phase. I don't think people use it because they think it's uber cool to use the terms, but moreso to express their enthusiasm, or so it seems to me.
So, either we have crazy fans who start calling other people haters and losers along with some other expletives (I have just had an encounter in the BB section today; NOT here), or we have some people who think they are oh-so-sophisticated to use such words. It is so below them, or something like that.
I think fans here are alright. They get way too happy or way too enthusiastic sometimes, which I skip over but that's their right. Everyone has a right to express themselves in any way they want. I think people who think they are oh-so-cool and try to portray themselves as some sort of intellectuals are a bunch of hypocrites. Just because certain people have outgrown that phase does not give them a right to ridicule others who might not have.
People need to learn to respect other people's opinions, no matter what it is. As long as no name calling is involved, why criticise someone for being part of a 'fandom' and the 'adjectives' they use. To each their own. Live and let live, though that is easier said than done, by the looks of it.

I agree. But sometimes you sit there and wonder how these random nicknames come about especially if you are a fan of the celeb but you have no idea why that nickname is attached to it.
My only problem with "A sexy sexy" is that are we using sexy both as a noun and an adjective? Is that redundant? Or am I still stuck in the grammar rules taught in Grade 5?

Lol, I've never heard of "hoxy"😆, but I have seen people use "a sexy sexy". I've probably used it a few times too.😆

Is Sonam's nickname really Shona? Cuz I think I've seen her fans call her "Shona" on Twitter, and she seems okay with it. Just wondering, because when I call Shahid "Sasha" that really is his nickname.

Were you not here when Prem/Manoj fandom exploded? Oh hoxy was the coolest term back then. Man I think I used it for everything that walked and rained.

I think these words come about through excitement. Just any ol' term won't do. Something as fresh and spectacular as the person being admired is needed. Thus, whilst in an enthusiastic daze, people use some very different terms/spellings.
I find that "he's a sexy sexy" to be funny, mostly in the way that you put that it is an adjective and a noun. I just thought that they left it like a fill in the blank, as in "he's a sexy sexy... __(You decide!)__". I must say though, the first time I heard the song (Main Tera Dhadkan Teri from APKGK) I though it was "he's a sexy Mexy", but I quickly brushed it off because Ranbir obviously isn't Mexican (or so we think, you never really know, lol).
Sometimes I find these terms kind of cute though, in the sense that it shows someone's excitement to the extent that they need to create a new word/saying to express their love.
I'm certainly not judging anyone if they use any terms, because I myself say some funky stuff sometimes. I don't do it when I type, but when I'm thinking of what to type I make some ridiculous word-like sounds (especially when I'm fida over some hot male star).
