Ok this is weird. Does he edit his reviews after the movie does well? I always though he gave Kaminey 3.5 stars.😕😆

He gave 4 to Karzz, Blue..etc...He is very unpredictable.

He's a trade analyst, not a critic. He critiques a movie based on how it might do at the BO. He gives all these masala flicks 4 stars just cuz they have better chances of doing well at the BO compared to some intelligent films. He has given all Vishal Bhardwaj movies like 2 or 1.5 stars, except Kaminey. I think he gave Kaminey 3.5 stars (lowest rating given by any critic for Kaminey) because he wasnt sure how it will do at the BO. He said that its a very well made film, but people might not accept it. So there ya go, he's just a trade analyst.

he gave 4 stars becoz of their commercial value and hype which is very neccessary to get good opening first, his reviews were not on the story, on story and script, he criticizes the movies, so i find his reviews meaningful where BO is concerned

Just a few weeks ago I saw an episode of his show where he had a special segment for the best movies and best performances of 2009. Surprisingly he now says Dev D is easily one of the best films of 2009 and has outstanding performances. He thoroghly enjoyed the film.

He did the same for Lagaan and Rang De Basanti. One episode he said they are the classics of this decade.

Clearly he changed his mind after the box office result and the acclaim.

THIS is exactly my problem with Taran Adarsh. I like some reviewers but there is no critic with whom I agree 100 percent of the time. Baradwaj Rangan is someone I really love as far as critics go because his reviews are well thought out and well written. He gives a fair chance to every single film and judges them on their own merit. Or atleast that is what he appears to do in his reviews. The thing with Taran Adarsh is that I don't think he is an honest reviewer. It is perfectly fine to like mindless comedies and give them rave reviews. But stick to your guns - why does he keep flip-flopping like Radhika pointed out?

When Blue released he was perhaps the only critic who gave it not just a good review but 4 stars. Everyone else pretty much ripped it apart. But here is the interesting bit - there was no press screening for Blue - so no other reviewers could watch the film before it actually released in the theatres except for Mr. Taran Adarsh. He was apparently especially invited to a screening of the film by its makers a couple of days before the release. Just him - no other film critic. Now that sounds very fishy, even to my old optimistic self. 😆

My problem is not that he likes films that I don't like and vice-versa. But that it is painfully obvious that he is incredibly biased and will pretend that he liked a particular film when it proves to be a success but would never stick out his neck by praising a well-made film in a review if a) he hasn't been paid by the producers or b) its a little too unconventional for him to praise it in earnest, i.e. he shows his trade analyst style.

yeh i kno...he gives heyy babyy 4 stars and omkara like 2 stars....reason...Omkara caters to a niche audience while heyy babyy has wider mass appeal. But that does not make it a better film in any way. I am extremely vary of his reviews...some of them he says "this film takes the audience for granted" and rips it apart (eg CCTC) and for some, he gives a film 4 stars saying "dunt luk for a story in this film..jus leave ur brain behind" (eg OSO, Heyy babyy, SIK, Welcome)...now arent those films taking the audience for granted and insulting their intelligence??? he is very flippy floppy which is why i never go by his reviews...

the only critic whom I somewhat trust for a good judgement of a film is Masand. He gives an honest review which one may or may not agree with, but nevertheless he sticks to it.

atcually as i remember the film didnt got good response before when it was re-realesed it got huge response

I was shocked when he gave Blue 4 i thought it was true n it turned out to be Crap i hate him for giving 4 for blue.i don't know what he was thinking!s
