Fanaa is another one of those glossy films about terrorism that I cannot stand. And Tabu was totally wasted in it. Neither was Kajol good in it.

I hope Rensil does not go overboard with his "message". But I guess I have a problem with message movies that try too hard or are manipulative - Not everyone shares my opinion on that. I guess I am going to keep my expectations low and then maybe I'll end up really liking the film.

MNIK seems to be emotionally manipulative at face value with the whole autism thing. And it has KJo at the helm. I get a feeling that he will go all out in making the audience excercise their tear ducts.

Vivek was nominated. He like Ajay was just okay to me. They didn't really move me, but their characters were also more one dimensional. I loved her speech at Star Screen Awards by the way where she thanked Vishal Bharadwaj, and Karisma seemed really happy for her. That made me happy especially after seeing VB win for Best Music, deservedly. Too bad, that didn't happen at the other award functions. *eyeroll*

I actually uploaded that clip of her winning on youtube dizzy. It was just a strange clip. Saif presented her with the best actress award that time 😳

Yeah Vivek and Ajay were not that great. Both were a bit too one-dimensional. Vivek still had his moments like when he beats up that guy while delivering wedding cards. Ajay as Omkara was totally monotone. And I also didn't get the same feeling of inferiority that Othello has in the original. He just didn't show that vulnerable side to the character ever. I don't know whether that is a problem with Vishal's screenplay or with Ajay's performance.

And yes Nimmi, I was so happy to see Vishal win the best composer award.

That shayari at the beginning that Aamir says at the beginning is priceless. Who do you have to credit for that? Mr. Aloo Puris himself, Kunal Kohli, wrote the dialogues for that movie.

I didn't know Kunal Kohli did the dialogues. The Shayari had cheese and corn written all over it.

I felt Vivek actually performed very well. but then he has given such powerful performances in the past that its hard for him to measure up to expectations.
I felt that the scenes where he's vying for omkara's appreciation were very touching, and especially that scene after namak when he manages to corner that guy so omkara shoots him, and then a second later how the smile is wiped off his face as omkara slowly points the gun at him, i love it!

Ok how do I explain Kurbaan...I myself dont know too much about it.
Cast: Saif, Kareena, Vivek, Om Puri, Kiron Kher, Diya Mirza
Music: Salim Suleiman
Director: Rensil D'Silva
Umm, so basically its a strong love story...that's also a thriller, but it sbased on terrorism. Saif ia a terrorist, kareena's his wife. Not much is known about Vivek's character. Rensil, from what I gathered, said that kurbaan is th eother side of the story. He said that americans have a popular perception of muslims. he wants to change that. He wants to dwell into teh mind of a terrorist and show why it is they do what they do, what they think like, what their reasons are. Saif went out and did some research and said something about muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan suffering everyday.
I know Diya's a reporter.
Umm...Vivek, the only info we have is that his father fears that Viek is losing his muslim identity in the U.S.
What else...uhhh, when I find out more, I'll let you know

Thank you!
Hmmm, don't know. I just hope it's not over the top, in your face message types. Lets see how it turns out.
By the way ji, by strong love story what do you mean? None of the others know about Kurbaan, except moi in my family. So if I say lets watch it, and there is a scene where I will bury myself alive, no one will let me live in my family lol. If there is a scene like that, then ummm I'll refuse to take my parents etc, and just stick with the younger crew. 😆

That scene was great. Just I guess I preferred some of his previous performances before. It is a bit unfair to compare what he did in Company with what came afterward I guess. Personally, I think they focused too much on the love angle with Bipasha (the two items songs tossed in) and they should have focused more on the complexity of the relationship between Ajay and Vivek's characters.

Simran, there is the longest kissing scene Saif and Kareena have done in their careers in it, so I say stick with the youngsters. The publicity of Qurbaan has made the presence of that scene quite clear at least.
