Creating A Star : Priyanka Chopra

Its no doubt that Priyanka Chopra is one of the finest actresses in bollywood. It did however take her quite a number of years to achieve the top spot in bollywood. Lets take a look at how she became one of the most sought after actresses in Indian Cinema. She was just 18 years old when she was crowned Miss World and created history by becoming the 5th Indian woman to win the title and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years.
PC first appeared on the silver screen in a tamil movie called Thamizhan playing the role of Priya opposite the protagonist played by Vijay.
In the year 2003 she appeared in her first bollywood movie The Hero playing the role of Dr Shaheen opposite mega stars like Sunny deol and Preity zinta. Even though the film was one of the highest grossing films of 2003, it was given: a below average status at the box office.
Later in 2003 she starred opposite Akshay Kumar in the Box Office hit Andaaz which earned her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.
In 2004 her films like Plan, Kismat and Asambhav failed miserably at the box office. Later in the year she starred in David Dhawan's Mujhse Shaadi Karogi opposite Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. The film turned out to be the 3rd highest grossing films of the year. She also starred in a negative role in the hindi remake of Disclosure in which she got critical acclaim and won a Filmfare Best Villian Award and earned her second nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting actress. She is only the second woman to have won the Best villian award.
2005 was not her lucky year as several of her films such as Blackmail, Waqt, Yakeen , Karam, Barsaat, Bluffmaster did not do well at the box office.

Ab to log sochne lage the agar kissi film ko flop karaana hai to Priyanka ko usme sign karna chahiye. But priyanka didn't give up. After a rather long drought, PC received a major need critical and commercial success in the form of FASHION and DOSTANA.: Fashion won her all the BEST ACTRESS awards proving that she is not just good looks. Priyanka is has earned a top a slot in bollywood and has proved that she is here to stay.
