Ab aisa hai toh, iske peeche koi wajah bhi to hogi? To know more we quizzed Imtiaz when he came to the city recently. "I simply love travelling. A lot of interesting things happen while one is on the move," he said.
And what about the romantic angle in his films, is that because he is a romantic? We put this question to his better half Preety, "Oh, those days were cute and innocent. I had to walk for miles to a telephone booth just to hear from him. This was about 18 years ago. It's been such a long time." Even Imtiaz, she reveals, would travel miles just to catch a glimpse of his lady love.
But both feel that the essence of love has changed over the years. "In the earlier times, you would be secretly pining for each other," Imtiaz says.
"But thanks to cell phones, now your loved one is just a text message away. As a result, you tend to take your partner for granted undermining his or her worth. Break-ups also happen over something as petty as a text message, thereby providing more reasons for a heart break," Preety says.
Although Imtiaz agrees with Preety when she says technology has made a difference in relationships, he also points out that it's not always for the bad. "You can't really universalise relationships. Each one has a different way of dealing with relationships," Imtiaz says.
