I am happy Rani isn't friends with Ash. It wasn't even rani fault whatever happened on CHALTE CHALTE sets. But i find it quiet selfish how Ash reacted to the episode and blamed everything on Rani. Rani has always been nice with the Khans. I Hope Rani would NEVER become friends with any of the BACHCHANS!! They've used rani like some recycling trash!

I have to disagree with you argument that Ash was being selfish. Just put yourself in Aish's shoes. One day you are just working at your job site and your crazy bf comes and ties to beat you in front of your co-workers. Instead of being consoled she gets kicked out of the movie by her co-star/friend and the woman who she thought was her friend takes up that same job after she got humiliated there. I say Aish did the right thing for herself. Rani and Srk were not there for her in worst of times so what kind of friends are they.
That being said, Rani and Srk went by their gut feeling and did what felt right to them. It is a sticky situation and kind of hard to draw a black/white picture. It sucks that it killed their friendship but so are the ways of bollywood.

If her ex beated her on the sets, what's fault is it of Rani?? Rumors were Salman abused ash on Filmfare awards night as well and where she have to wear glasses. Whatever happened to ash on the sets wasn't her fault but it wasn't rani fault either. And Rani doesn't need friends like Ash who breaks friendship over a movie.

The Rani-Ash friendship hasn't ended because Rani was held at blame for Salman abusing Ash. It was the fact that when after the abusing happened, Rani like the lovable friend she is (note the sarcasm) used Ash's predicament to her advantage. SRK was looking for other actresses and from what I've heard, Rani volunteered for the role. Like you rightly said, it wasn't Ash's fault nor was it Rani's that her boyfriend was abusive. What counts as lack of courtesy on Rani's part is that she didn't even bother informing Aishwarya that she had been replaced. If my memory is correct, Aishwarya found out from a third source rather than her so-called "friends".

If Rani did consider Ash her good friend and not a competitor, then she should have informed Ash about her taking up CC or shouldnt have taken up the role at all.

Ash gets beat up by Salman on set, SRK decides to get rid of trouble and drop Ash, Ash's friendship with King Khan (that helped her professionally) ended, Rani took up the role and didnt even care to inform her friend? I mean she should have at least asked Ash. After Devdas, Ash was prob very excited for CC..Ash lost from every angle.

She lost the film, got beaten up, lost her beneficial friendship with SRK and her friend Rani.

Again, I'm not a Ash fan at all and Rani is my favorite actress..but that doesnt mean she has to be right about everything.

I think that's more or less how a person perceive it, your views on friendship, etc. Personally, I do think Ash was right to be offended. After all, Rani and Ash were quite close at the time. In context of that, for Rani to use Ash's plight as a means of getting ahead in her career must've been quite a blow to Ash since Rani basically relegated her to the role of a stepping stone. It's Ash's grudge and she can hold it however long she wishes.
On the flip side, can't the "still over a role" be applied to Rani as well? Surely, Rani wasn't naive enough to not realize that cashing in on her friend's predicament, without even informing her that she had been replaced, would put a chasm the size of Texas between them. She probably went ahead with that knowledge. IMO, for the fallout, both are equally to be blamed - or not be blamed.

It's not about the movie but about their friendship. Had it been some random movie then fine Rani is allowed to compete for the role. But this movie created utter humiliation for Aish and Rani practically kicked her friend while she was down instead of helping her. It helped Rani's career immensely so perhaps it was a great professional decision but on a personal front it was wrong.
This is why I said try putting yourself in Aish's shoes. If I had been in her place and my friend did that to me I wouldn't bother talking to her either.

you guys do understand that if rani had said no to srk she wouldve missed out on that friendship? and shes been friends with srk longer than she had been with ash...but thats not the point...rani was IMO sort of in the middle..losing out on both sides...so knowing ur gonna lose out either way wouldnt you lose out AND get the benefits??
