Two recently released films Aa Dekhen Zara starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bipasha Basu and Nagesh Kukunoor's 8 X 10 Tasveer which saw Akshay Kumar in a double role too tried their luck with time but unfortunately could not live up to the expectations. However, though the theme may be similar, film-makers have at least tried to experiment and liven up the script than just going gimmicky by showing the predictable concept of a scientist making a machine through which one can teleport.
While Neil Nitin could see the future by clicking photographs with his special camera, Akshay Kumar could go back to the past through an 8X10 photograph and solve murder mysteries.
Nagesh Kukunoor told After Hrs: "Travelling through time has not been explored by Bollywood and it is a very interesting subject. My film saw Akshay have a special power with which he could do so.
One should experiment with this theme as it is a very thought provoking concept and if tackled well it can hook anyone."
Director Vivek Sharma of the forthcoming Kal Kisne Dekha also endorses this viewpoint. His film also has the hero having a special power to see what lies ahead.
"When you hear time travel people generally think that's it's about some scientist creating something and then someone gets teleported through it. My film has the hero getting some visions about the future. That's his special ability. The audiences I'm hoping would like the concept," says Vivek Sharma.
Actors say they wanted to do movies with this theme as they were themselves intrigued by the subject. Bipasha Basu said: "I have been fascinated about knowing the future and I'm amazed with people who have the ability to see and predict what's going to happen or has happened."
