LOOK: The fresh faces that sell
With no new releases in the theatres, the action has shifted to the endorsement world. Brands are going all out to sign up Bollywood stars to promote everything from chewing gums to moisturisers. Interestingly it's not the same old faces we are used to seeing. A cola brand has dropped SRK for a younger (read cheaper) face, while Aishwarya Raihas also lost her contract with a cosmetic giant to the Masakalli girl. So let's take a look at the new faces who are taking the ad world by storm.
Asin:
She was the unknown face opposite Saif in the Taj Mahal Tea ad. But today the Ghajini girl enjoys a rare pan-Indian appeal across a cross section of fans. It's hard not to fall in love with that girl-next-door face and vibrant personality. Over the years Asin has been associated with the Southern campaigns of many high profile brands and her portfolio will now only get bigger.

Sonam Kapoor:
Her films might bomb but Sonam has the face of a star. It's only in her ads and photoshoots that fans have got a taste of her glam quotient. And going by the commercial on air, one is sure to see a lot more of this confident beauty in future ad campaigns.

She's a pro at ads. But as an actress Deepika has been pretty choosy about her endorsements. But given the global slowdown, where no one is really in a mood for luxury spends, Deepika has interestingly decided to endorse a chewing gum. In fact she's not alone; rumour has it that a superstar Khan might also be roped in the as the new face of a mouth freshner.

The Jaane Tu...girl reminds us of a young Preity Zinta from her Liril days. She has quickly lapped up three plum brands - which are not surprisingly targetted at the college-going janta. And if the soft drink commercial showcases her fun side, she is all set to model for a talc, where the sexy face of Genelia will come into her own.
Priyanka Chopra:
Anyone who has seen Dostana will vouch for the fact that hot-pants never looked better on Indian women. And by bagging every popular award this year, Piryanka is clearly the new 'it' girl. Like Deepika she too has been doing many ads, but the current high in her career graph is reflecting in the quality of her endorsements. So suddenly it's not longer Kareena and Katrina, but it's Ms Chopra who pops up in every commercial break of the IPL. Presenting her as urban, trendy, successful and independent, is the common link to all her recent campaigns.

Edging SRK out of Pepsi is proof enough of Ranbir's star power in the ad world. Post Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ranbir's stock as Bollywood's new Casanova has risen sharply, And he is wasting no time in capitalising on that. Be it his 'my can' ad or the new commercial for a brand of LCD TVs, Ranbir and his brigade of hotties are a hot new marketing tool.

No hits yet - But that hasn't stopped Neil Nitin Mukesh from getting himself an endorsement. Sometime back he was briefly seen endorsing a range of sports shoes. But the real biggie is him endorsing a watch along with the once queen of endorsements, Pretiy Zinta. But it makes us wonder - whether it's a high for Neil or a come down for Preity!
John Abraham:
We are saving the most aggressive one for last. Now all stars endorse brands. But John Abraham really takes the cake by becoming the face of two brand in less than 72 hours. First he was declared brand ambassador for a range of personal grooming products and a day later, he was seen promoting fitness for the launch of a new soft drink can. John's MBA degree is certainly coming good.

She seems to be an Aamir Khan favourite. After giving him company in the Tata Sky ad, she was recently spotted promoting the handset company endorsed by the superstar. Maybe ads will give her the popularity which her films haven't.

After bagging all the awards, Arjun has also bagged an endorsement...That too with none other than Hollywood superstar Nicole Kidman. With looks like that Rampal might soon invade into the inner circle and lap up some big ticket deals.
