yeah WTF was that all about, what were the writers/directors smoking?

like i hate comic reliefs in 90's movies, one minute they'll be showing some intense scene about some girl being assaulted then the next minute they'll show Johnny Lever dancing to tunak tunak tun tunak tunak tun ta na na na... so insensitive

🤣
You gotta love the 90s!
I think they thought it was mandatory in order for the movie to be succesful, but I just found it annoying. I actually forwarded all of johnny lever's parts in asoka. I'm like..meh...man at the gate, not even that funny, I wanna watch a movie, not standup comedy.

Sorry its a badly made movie in my opinion- I expected more from Santosh Shivan.

It looked to me like a Cosmopolitan take on history.

Omg! I neva thought i would ever find someone who loves Asoka as much as I do! Its an amazing movie a revelation. The cinematography is beautiful. The location of madhya pradesh the white mountains in the the song raat ka nasha its amazing. I have an exam rite now when i am done i will elaborate.

But finally someone said it! The movie totally rocks.

I really am mighty impressed. I knwo its historically inaccurate and i wish they had just made it a fictional piece rather than associating it wtih Asoka. Perhaps said "inspired by Asoka's story' or something, but not gone ahead and claimed it to be asoka's tale.
But otherwise, my goodness the cinematograhpy for htis movie is simply breathtaking!
And the way they show Asoka viewing hte word towards the end, the way his eyes open up for the first time as he takes in the carnage and pain around him. And one scene of hte woman just sitting htere by her dead husband looking at asoka.
And some symbolism as well. WHen he was Pawan, he had a white horse. When he turned into "Asoka" they showed him straddling a black horse for warfare. And interesing how Kareena was right htere in front of him in the battle scenes. She even saw him, but he was so blinded by hate that he coudlnt spot the woman he love right in front of him.
And in the end, when he fially achieves revelation, he suddenly stumbles upon and spots kaurwaki right there.
And the songs! OMG! Apart from teh stupid retarded item song, I love them all. Special mention to roshni se, raat ka nasha, and san sanana.
And the theme/backgroud score is beautiufl.
I think if hte movie had released now, ti might have done better.

I agree 😆😆
The movie was eye candy sure but it lacked a soul. Especially since it was based on Ashoka - it was not remotely connected to history - all it was a love story and Ashoka's story was much much more than that.
The directory should have just called it something else and maybe then it would have worked.

Throughout the movie, I felt like the "stuff"' (for lack of a better word) would drop anytime from Kareena's bosom (I know kids attend this forum). If that's all I noticed, there obviously wasn't much to notice in the movie.
Me likey the Oo Re Kanchi song though. 😛
