The film may have been 'blue', but Sonam Kapoor was one redeeming factor in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. And after more than a year-long wait, the actress is back. This time with a new man and a new director. We caught up with the actress and spoke about her next release Delhi-6, her de-glam look and father Anil Kapoor.

Excerpts from the interview:

Buzz18: Tell us something about Delhi-6.

Sonam Kapoor: It's a film about Delhi, about India. It's about Delhi people. It's a very noble film.

Buzz18: How was it working with Abhishek Bachchan?

Sonam Kapoor: It was awesome. He is a very cool guy.

Buzz18: And your director, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra?

Sonam Kapoor: He is one of the best directors. He has the right vision about his subject and film. He is very honest as a person. And honest to his work too.

Buzz18: How was it working with the pigeon? We heard there was a nationwide audition held for the same.

Sonam Kapoor: Really? An audition? I did not know about that. Even I did not have to audition for the film!

Buzz18: No auditions? So how did you land the film?

Sonam Kapoor: Well, I think every girl in the industry wanted to land this role. Everybody auditioned for it, even abroad. And someone suggested my name to Rakeyshji. But then he thought, how could a JVPD girl (an upscale Mumbai suburb), a Mumbai girl, who has spent her entire life here play the character of a Delhiite? But then he saw me. And he had no one appropriate for the role. I think he cast me as a last resort.

Buzz18: So you play a Delhi girl in the film?

Sonam Kapoor: I play the role of Bittu, a Delhiite. She wants to be more than just another girl from a middle class family. She wants to do and be much more than just be married off to a man her parents choose. She wants to do something all by herself.

Buzz18: Saawariya and Delhi-6, two deglam roles. Any reasons?

Sonam Kapoor: Oh God! De-glam. Not again. It's not deglam.

Buzz18: Ok then let's say, you've been wearing Indian clothes very unlike your off-films image.

Sonam Kapoor: I don't think wearing Indian clothes is de-glam in any way. One can look de-glam even wearing jeans and a ganji. Definition of glamour is something that shines. And the Indian clothes that I wear in the film go with the character I'm playing.

Buzz18: Talking about glamour, tell us something about the recent Verve cover shoot you did.

Sonam Kapoor: Yeah I have shot for Verve cover. Actually I'm a good friend of the stylist, Nisha. I did it for her and also I think Verve is a great magazine.

Buzz18: You took quite a long break from films after Saawariya.

Sonam Kapoor: Darling, I did not take a break. I was working. Yeah my films did not release. But I was working for them. I wish I had taken a break.

Buzz18: Any plans for doing a film with your father?

Sonam Kapoor: You should ask my father that. No, I have no offers to work with my father as of now. And anyway, I think my father does not look old enough to be my dad. He has never been offered a father's role yet. He can play a father as long as the child is some five years old.

Buzz18: Does your father play a huge role in guiding your career?

Sonam Kapoor: Well, considering who my father is, I'll be really dumb not to take his advice. He has been in the industry for 30 years. I will be a dumb if I don't listen to him. But also, I've been brought up to take my own decisions. So I decide what I do. But of course I keep his advice in mind.

Buzz18: Coming back to Delhi-6, what did you enjoy the most while shooting the film?

Sonam Kapoor: The parties. We had one every 15 days. We'd call a local DJ and lots of food. It was fun.

Buzz18: Abhishek's last solo hero film was Drona. And Saawariya did not do exceptionally well at the Box Office. How do you think the audience will receive Delhi-6?

Sonam Kapoor: Well, It's Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and his last film was Rang De Basanti.

Buzz18: How does it feel to be one of the hottest properties in Bollywood right now?

Sonam Kapoor: Really? Am I? Well I am not aware of it. It doesn't matter I guess.

Buzz18: Thank you, Sonam. All the best.

I simply adore this girl, her answers are so blunt and straight forward. No fakeness what so ever! I agree with her I still can't picture Anil Kapoor playing Daddy to a 22 year old, though he is one is real life, but in reel life it's hard to digest.
Best of Luck Sonam, I think you are a superb actresses and exceptionally beautiful!
I loved this answer it was literally tit for tat she really knows how to shut those reporters up
