Everyone seems to be making sequels… Rakesh Roshan [KOI... MIL GAYA - KRRISH], Firoz A. Nadiadwala [HERA PHERI - PHIR HERA PHERI] and Aditya Chopra [DHOOM - DHOOM 2] are already deep-neck into sequels of their films, while Boney Kapoor [MR. INDIA, NO ENTRY], Ekta Kapoor [KYAA KOOL HAI HUM] and Ramgopal Varma [SARKAR] are planning to start sequels shortly. Now Manmohan Desai's blockbuster hit AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY seems to have caught the fancy of two film-makers: David Dhawan and Ketan Desai [M.K.D.'s son]. While David is keen on either making a sequel or remaking it as it is, Ketan is contemplating going ahead with the sequel. Reveals Ketan, "I am giving it a serious thought. But the baggage of responsibility that comes with it is too huge to handle. The star cast, the performances by each and every actor, the music… everything was unmatched in that film. Therefore, if anyone dares to either remake AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY or make its sequel, it's going to be a tough task, a mighty challenge." Ketan says David sounded off the idea to him only recently. "He said he was toying with the idea of going ahead with AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY. But it's so difficult to remake a classic or take if off from where it ended. I'd like to add that AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY jaisi film banti nahin, bas ban jaati hain. And I wouldn't want to tamper with a classic if I am not too sure of pulling it off," he admits honestly. Ketan even adds that besides comparisons with the original, it would be tough to get the right faces for the new version. "I really don't know whom to cast. But there's a strong possibility that I might go ahead with the project," the legendary director's son affirms. |
