Top Controversies of 2008
Initially, I didn't think there were too many controversies in 2008. However, after some brainstorming with the rest of the team, we realized that 2008 was full of controversies. So, BollySpice compiled a list of all the big and small, interesting and not-so interesting, juicy and boring hullabaloos that erupted from the Bollywood camp in 2008. Enjoy!
Shah Rukh Khan's tiff with Salman Khan
It all began with at Katrina Kaif's party where a war of words exploded to create one of 2008's biggest controversies. The reason for their tiff is still unknown. While bystanders claimed it was created by their competitive nature due to their respective television shows, others say it was because of other causes. The two Khan's ended their friendship once again on a sour note.
Saif weds Kareena numerous times
The popular couple has constantly battled false marriage rumors throughout the year. The ever present grapevine screamed that they had run away and chup-chupke married each other while others claimed that they had been married for a while now. Bebo screamed foul and so did Saif. Maybe 2009 will ring some wedding bells for the duo and put an end to the chaos!
Deepika and Ranbir on and off
They were on and then suddenly off. Before we knew it, they were seen locking lips at their airport which cleared all reports of their relationship heading down a dead end. However, recent rumors claim that Deepika feels threatened by Ranbir's current friendship with Katrina Kaif and the duo are not on talking terms once again. On and off seems like the story of their love life!
Sanjay Dutt's Marriage
It was his third marriage and once again caused a stir. Dutt Jr., in quiet and rushed hushed affair, married his girlfriend Manyata and the wedding was attended by only close friends. Later on, the duo claimed they weren't married and once again confused the daylights out of their friends and fans. There was also some court cases to confuse the issue even more. Now seems all clear as the the Mumbai Sessions Court declared Sanjay's and Manyata's marriage valid in May 2008. Happies endings!
Bigg Boss Season 2
Reality shows create drama in crazy amounts. This year's Bigg Boss house managed to do what other reality shows don't: become nutty. The housemates came from a variety of different of backgrounds which was not only interesting but made for some exciting events. The cake was taken by Sambhavna Seth and Raja Chaudhary who fought, made up and even after they departed the house, managed to stay in the news with their insane antics!
Soha and Siddharth part ways
They never openly acknowledged their relationship. They roamed around together, even hand in hand at times, which confirmed that the two definitely had something cooking between them. Soha Ali Khan's parents had accepted the usually quiet Siddharth who has quite a twisted past. After a series of misunderstandings, news came through that the duo had called it quits. Word on the street is Soha is now eyeing the young and innocent Kunal Khemu. We wonder what the family will think of this lad.
Tanushree Dutta's calls out Nana Patekar
Dusky beauty Tanushree Dutta was all set to do an item number in the yet to release Horn Ok Please co-starring Nana Patekar. She then was ousted from the song when she claimed that Nana Patekar showed an overly keen interest in the song and ended up coming too close for comfort. While the director, producer and choreographer called Dutta "unprofessional," her loss was Rakhi Sawant's gain who stepped in and took over.
Shahid and Vidya or Shahid and Sania
During the shooting of Kismet Konnection, rumors were afloat that Shahid and Vidya had become "good friends." The duo neither accepted nor denied that their relationship was more than a close comradeship, and thus ended their situation. Later on, Shahid was linked to tennis player Sania Mirza. The duo was seen together at various events and once again, the same speculations were made. So who was Shahid with? That's a question only he has the answer to.
Rakhi Sawant's Drama
Rakhi Sawant is the ultimate drama queen whether it's on television or in real life. Her open relationship with boyfriend Abhishek is one that was constantly in the limelight. She had previously been seen on television smacking her boyfriend, after he supposedly misbehaved. In the past year, the controversial couple called it quits after she claimed that Abhishek had become greedy and unappreciative of all she had done for him. Additionally, he claimed that he deserved better. Poor Rakhi was torn and shattered, but we're sure that the usually happy girl will be up and going in no time!
Asin versus Jiah Khan
Ghajini heroines, Asin and Jiah Khan, both came head on when it came to ensuring their movie did well at the box office. During the shooting, the girls were at constant loggerheads as they both were out to firstly, impress Aamir Khan and secondly, outdo each other in their performances. In fact, the girls were so competitive they used to be on the sets when the other was performing just to "see" what was going on. Good gracious girls! Now that's some serious competition.
