From the work i have seen of the two, IMO they currently aim for very similar roles i.e big glam commerical films and the media share a huge love/hate relationship with the two. Deepika's role looks quite interesting in CCTC, but there is always the risk that it may turn out to be centred purely on Akshay. This seems to have happend in most of the Akki-Kat films apart from Namaste London which was completely Katrina's film.

It's good to see more girl power with Deepika kicking ass in the promo's but it has been done before by Shilpa as well (although in a more serious way).

yeah NL was great for Kat. But again, Kat can't touch Deepika's talent. Deepika debute as a great actress and a great dancer. But when Kat was debuting her first movie, her acting was just blah and I was wondering how she got that offer for the movie. Doing commercials is in these days and that's what the recent girls like deepika, priyanka and kareena are doing right now.

For some reason, I see similar qualities between Kat, Sonam and Anushka

Hhhmm i disagree with the bold part above. Personally i give more credit to Katrina due to fact that she's working in an industry and country that is not familiar to her, i mean when she first arrived she couldn't speak or understand the language, plus she hasn't been brought up on the usual dose of bollywood films - to some extent she is an outsider.

Deepika is definitely a good dancer, and much better than Katrina, but when it comes to emotions i think it's clear that Katrina is currently ahead of Deepika (but she has been around longer as well). I didn't think Deepika acted great in her debut hindi film, but with hardwork and dedication she may progress.

Getting back to the topic, it will be interesting to see what kind of films Anushka will be offered. In the past ex-models seem to go for the glam route first and are taken as serious actors later on in their career.

..so all those directors who r giving deepika their films it is not based on her acting!

so we're talking about farah khan, sidharrath anand, nikhil adavani, imitaz ali all chose deepika even tho she can't act! i seriously think not! these directors have given big hits!

i personally think deepika is a good actress but there is always room to improve =]

@ Aisha: I think You've gotten it wrong 😊 What MOST people mean is that when someone can act a role of a simple character, and protray it in such a way that everyone falls in love with it, w/o all the extra desinger clothes or extra make up or expose themselves, then that is definitly a major accpomplishment.

Of course, you can have all desinger clothes etc but still act marvelously. Many actreeresses have done that.

I hope you got that ^ Not very good at explaing stuff.

Anyway back to the topic of comparing Deepika & Anuska.

I will say that Deepika did not whatso ever impress me in OSO. It was like 😳 shes done. thats it? In BAH she was okay, I'd say if her role was longer it would have a bigger impact tho Minisha & Bips probaly had around same time, but still did better.

I hope she is better in CCCT, looking forward for the movie.

About Anushka. What can I Say. From the promos , I could not see any talenT. but she did defiinitly prove me wrong. I loved her charcacter, she was just awesome. I'd say she should get the debut award 😊

Deepika acted good in OSO, her role was great. I think Bachna ae haseeno was her second movie. I really don't know why she did the role? In CCTC i really don't have any high hopes.

I don't think anyone has stated that to be a great actress you have to portray a simple character. There are many different levels, stages, types (whatever you want to call it) etc of acting, and directors take each actress for different reasons to add something to their film. It would be quite boring of all actresses fitted one mold.

well anyways I have a feeling that all the newcomers will be compared to Deepika and of course even if that newcomer was basically just standing in the movie, people will consider that newcomer better than deepika...LOL

Even new models are being compared to deepika. Last topic about that new model who replaced deepika, people didn't even know who she was but I thought it was funny that people said she was better than deepika even though they never saw that girl working or doing anything but just saw her picture.
