Akshay: I have no forefathers in B'wood

Few months ago when Singh is Kinng was about to be released, reports of an alleged spat between Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan started doing the rounds. Akshay didn't leave an opportunity to fuel the fire. During a promotional event he told the media that there was only one King in the industry – Amitabh Bachchan, spelling out whose side he was on.

While he said all of it with a straight face, industry insiders swore that all was not well between him and the Khan.
At the music launch of Chandni Chowk to China however, Akshay Kumar was surprisingly mellow. And though he was firm, Akshay kept away from all non-Chandni Chowk questions.
MUSIC REVIEW: Chandni Chowk is delightfully cheeky
The music launch at a multiplex in Mumbai saw media persons flocking outside the gates from as early at ten in the morning. While there were some who complained that it was too early, clearly everyone was keen on being part of this much-hyped film's event.
Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone took centerstage and addressed the media even as director Nikhil Advani looked on. Akshay joked about how easy it was to get into the skin of the character and Deepika echoed the same sentiments.
MOVIE STILLS: Chandni Chowk to China
Of course the backslapping did have its share of veiled remarks. Akshay interrupted Deepika while she was answering a question and cheekily pointed out that he was one of the few heroes with whom she could wear high heels (since he's quite tall).
On another occasion responding to a question, Akshay pointed out that 'Shah Rukh and I have no forefathers in this industry' and yet they'd achieved so much. While the remark may have been seemingly innocent, it was clear that the once-nobody Akshay now perceived himself in the league of King Khan.

However for most part (unlike in the past), Akshay preferred to remain away from controversial questions. Every time he was asked anything that wasn't related to Chandni Chowk to China, Akki insisted he had 'no idea what you're talking about.'

Akshay stuck to answering questions about the film telling the press of his experiences of shooting on the Great Wall of China and with kung fu legend Gordon Liu. The media seemed to have acquired all knowledge about karate and how stuntmen have changed over the years. But somehow, just somehow the razor-sharp wit and dry humour of Akshay Kumar was sorely missed.
