Saiyaaara spoof
I just finished watching the movie.
After the reviews I was like this is not going to be a nice movie.
But I was surprised. I really liked the movie. The first Golmaal was out of this world.....no comparision here.
But teh concept of this movie was nice too. Ajay, Tushaar, Arshad and Shreyas were just GREAT, MiNDBLOWING...They were just so good.
So I watched it, haha, and I LOVED IT!
Ok, so it had a lotta loopholes and some situations were over the top. I did find that the pace really slackened in the middle portion. And some bits I didn't find funny at all. But the bits I didn't find funny, found an audience somewhere else. The entire theater was pretty much filled to the brim on the 5:30 show, so I can only imagine how great it must be around the 8:30 one, which is when most ppl flock in. The entire room was in splits through most of the movie, and my brother couldn't even drink his soda properly coz he was laughing so hard. I found it to be HILARIOUS! The story is pretty simple, but it's the direction that made the difference. Rohit Shetty knows comedy, lets just put it his way. Great direction, and great cinematography. The songs were the downside in the flick. Golmaal Vacancy remix was a great start to the movie, and meow was ok. But the one song that got on my nerves (and everyone else's) was tha karke. It was just jammed in there for no apparent reason and did NOT go with the story at all. Instead, I was pining to spot Tu Saala, which was already a hit with the masses. Bad decision on the team's part replacing tu saala with tha karke. No one ooed, no one was impressed. I heard a couple of ppl going, "what the…"
So what the best part of the movie? The performances!
Ajay Devgan can handle any role, and its really impressive to see him handling comedy since he's usually known for serious cinema. He was great at what he was given. He's an amazing actor and breezed through his role.
Celina Jaitley was also a surprise. She played her role really well and was very likable.
Arshad Warsi was wasted. The guy has so much talent, but I was disappointed to see him being propelled into the backseat. He was barely there in the first half. Suddenly he popped out in a scene towards the intermission and I remembered he was there as well.
Amrita Arora was nothing special.
Tushar was the strength of the film. Whenever he appeared, the audience laughed. He was a laugh riot and really had his comic timing down. I loved his character lucky and I thought him and kareena made an adorable bro sis pair!
Shreyas was the second strength. I LOVE HIM! I think he's so adorable! Omg! Watch him in the scene when he finds out Celina is the one who was on the yacht. I was holding my stomach laughing at that part. And everyone around me seemed to be going through the same reaction.
Now onto Kareena. In short, she was ADORABLE. No, she didn't have that much to do in the film, but the girl does comedy like she was made for it. She feared that she would go over the top, but she was perfect! I love those vulnerable and suspicious glances she throws throughout the movie, and while she's not given the comic lines, her expressions make up for it. She was the best in the part when she thinks Ajay's dead (oh how I wish she had more such scenes). Everyone really enjoyed that part, and the part where she screams "nahiii". She's priceless in the climax! Hahaha! And may I add, she looks gorgeous! I'm so glad that she's outta that tashan look. The sweet simple look suits her best. Great job bebo!
So yeah, I enjoyed myself. Warning, the makers weren't kidding when they said leave your brain at home. The humor is really silly and kiddish humor, but it succeeds in making you laugh. I'm sure some ppl would be disappointed, and I can see why. But its another run of the mill slapstick comedy with a great climax that'll have you laughing your head off. If you enjoyed movies like No Entry, then you'll enjoy this. In my opinion, I liked the first Golmaal overall, but the climax and performances in this Golmaal were better. My favorite spoof was the Tashan and Saawarya spoof! Hahah!
