Diwali means festival of lights and joy. Diwali also means welcoming the Goddess of money, Laxmi to our homes. So Diwali also has a lot to do with money and monetary gains. That makes up discuss the monetary gains of our film celebrities. Bollywood, no longer, is an industry that plays in lakhs. The gamble has grown bigger. Today they talk in multiples of crores. That's the budget of our films and a major part of which is constituted by the star remunerations. Remunerations decide who is ruling the industry and how. Today we talk about the top actors as per their market value.

Akshay Kumar

In the last couple of years, Akshay Kumar has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan when it comes to gaining the Number 1 position. With a constant spate of hits like Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyya, Welcome and Singh is Kinng, Akshay Kumar is the most coveted actor in Bollywood today.

From his earlier choice of directors like Suneel Darshan, Dharmesh Darshan and Raj Kanwar, Akshay has also graduated to more sensible directors like Vipul Shah, Anees Bazmee and Priyadarshan.

He even surged past SRK on the small screen when he charged Rs 1.5 crore per episode for Fear Factor which was higher that SRK's fees for Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hai . Akshay has also gained a strong fan-following in the international arena, something which only Shah Rukh boasted of earlier

Oh well who cares i do not like akshays 'hit' films anyways apart from bhool bhulaiya in which for me vidya stole the show with amisha its always srk..

just like ektas_angel said... no matter how many movies of akshay have been hits, it is only srk movies that have touched my heart and stuck with me...

I am a huge SRK fan who can rarely find fault with him😳 but have to admit that Akshay Kumar is a versatile actor.

Akshay Kumar started off as an action king then did emotional roles in hits like Dhadkan and Jaanwar. Now moved on to Comedy bringing the highest revenue for Bollywood last year. The one thing to notice is he gave hits in all those genres. You can't write him off as just a comic actor because soon he will be back in another intense film titled Eight by Ten.

Earlier only SRK had a huge fanbase abroad but now Akshay Kumar too has his fan following in USA/Canada.

So is Akshay's position in the industry now that in recent mid-day interview SRK had to say this about him,

"Akki and I go back a long way. We are both very simple, basic people. We know each other before a lot of people who know us now.We have done a lot of shows together. We did Dil Toh Paagal Hai together for just two days but know each other very well. He has a great sense of humour like me. We have fun things to talk about. Akshay doesn't attend too many parties nor do we don't attend many common parties. So when I met him, I just wanted to sit down and chat with him about a few things work, also. Not a co-production; but yes, we talked about some shows. It's been a long time since we worked together, so we were discussing possibilities. We had great fun doing the Awesome Foursome shows, and they were the biggest hits before Temptation. And it worked because of the energy we all bring to the table. Not a co-production, but we'll try and do some work together. It will be nice if we can."

I think actresses should make just as much as males. It's not fair. Rani, preity, Ash, Kareena, Priyanka, Tabu are all phenomenal actresses and and probably make half as much as males. It's not fair!

And congratulations to Akshay for making so much money. He has worked hard for it. I really hope we get to see SRK and Akshay together in a movie.. that would be AWESOME! Maybe in a Yashraj movie. 😉
