Is Deepika just eye candy?

So Deepika has now had two official bollywood releases, yet i don't think she has shown any actual quality acting. Firstly, in OSO she looked the part she was playing, danced well and was the perfect eye candy for a commerical bollywood film, however her own voice was not used and her role did not have much screen time........yet she recieved rave reviews and a ton of offers even though she had not delievered her own dialogues. So are the awards just based on how you look on screen and the level of glamour?

Secondly, BAH should have been the perfect opportunity for Deepika to display her acting talent, yet she was given the smallest role out of the three female leads. This time her voice was used, but her dialogue delievery was poor, so now it's clear why her voice was dubbed in OSO.......So was Katrina's role cut and Deepika's role kept due to the hype around her and Ranbir's relationship, considering he was the male lead in the film?

So what is the hype around Deepika? is it all just about her looks, her background and relationships? She was nominated for Best Actress, even though she didn't give 100% to her role i.e the voice issue, so is she just being taken in films as eye candy?

To some extent the hype of her career seems to be similar to when Katrina first started, but even she had more of a role in say Humko Deeewana Kargaye and her most strongest film showing potential would be Namastey London.

her voice was dubbed 4 sure in OSO...she was ok in OSO ...not worth da hype tho ...i luv her dancing ...n she is pretty ...but her acting is yet 2 be seen

i jus saw BAH ...n honestly speakin ...evn tho she cudn't do much wid da role ...but even den i didn't find her convincing

Kat was not hyped as much as Deepika ...but soo far i think dey r jus inda film 4 eida glamour ...or da hype rond dem ...

Well Deepika is only 2 films old ...lets c if she improves wid tym n wid better roles

as of now ppl lyk her only for her beauty...moreover she is not damn b'ful..her way of talkin is also not that appealing unlike other actresses...n she needs to improve a lot as far as acting is concerned...

Yes it surely amazes me and I m sure all of us that how come just a newcomer is creating soo many waves.. the girl is just not even trying hard to make an impact but u cant help when she is way too charismatic to make an impact otherwise.. Yes she didnt outshine anyone in bah but was it be possible with such a poor written role?? Her character was good.. but it was just a 15 mins performance.. And their lovestory was definitely rush to make a rk dp ending..

I think she has an immense screen presence and she looks very camera frndly... she definitely needs to work on voice modulation and she has very pretty eyes to emote.. She has lead roles in her upcoming movies..now lets see if they gonna help her career..

And today indian cimema is all about commercial cinema.. rarely ppl like SLB make artistic movies soo maybe after Katrina people r preferring deepika...

She has a very long way to go for sure.. and not to forget that she belongs from a non filmi background so it will definitely take sometime for her to prove her acting abilities..and hardwork definitely pays off in the end..she is such a hardworking girl.. only 22 years old with so much success.

I am a fan of deepikas not sure about voice or not she seems to have a nice personality which is one of the things i like about actors the warmth they give off...in oso i think she did the role ok as was required i am not going to judge her alot as with any newcomers it takes time before you can really decide for me she is watchable and actings ok which is a main thing ....some newcomers are not good looking or good at acting yet survive i think she has potential.

I just hope she makes intelligent choices at this point in time...another 2-3 forgettable roles could jeopardize her career...

more than Katrina I feel she is comaparable to Aish when she she started out... both get talked more about their looks than their acting....but Aish could emote well and didnt have as much problem with mouthing of dialogues ..(.that even after n number of movies Aish is still not there as far as her voice modulation is concerned is a different matter..😛) .so deepika needs to work really hard on her shortcomings....

she wont fit into the kat type roles coz she looks much too intelligent to play a dumb belle.... she just needs to hone her acting skills....

from whatever I have read the heroines of yester years used to put in a lot of effort...Hema Malini's mom was a strict disciplinarian who forced her to take her dance seriously and also used to have teachers to improve her urdu/ hindi diction...( imagine how she would have sounded without those tuitions..😆)

also I was disappointed when I read deepika had said that she took up BAH only because of Ranbir...she should have better reasons of choosing movies...

hope she focuses more and does reach her potential...coz she really has it in her ...it would be a pity to see such potential talent going waste...

She probabaly needs a good director and an author backed role to prove herself...

Hmmm a very good topic.

Her perfomance in

1)OSO - First of all the moive was all about SRK.Deepika had a very short role.She danced,she modelled,she looked pretty and she did 10-15 mins acting.Then her voice was dubbed.Now in that 10-15 acting time she did fine.Not so great that all the awards should be handed to her.Yes it was quite shocking but what can a person do.The moive was all about hype.SRK six pack abs,Deepika links up and then Saawriya v/s OSO clash!She looked really pretty in the first half of the movie but in the second hour i dint find her reallly good.

2) BAH - Deepika had the strongest and the shortest role in the moive.this time she dubbed her own voice.and the difference was seen.Acting wise she did ok-ok again not so great.She looked gorgous but her acting dint apeal here.Notice that seen where Gaytri tells Raj about she doesnt belive in marriage.it looked like Deepika has just learnt the lines and saying them.no emotions no expressions nothing.even in the last scene "Shutup i am trying to think" this dialogue delievery totally killed the moment it was so bad.thanks to Ranbir who was fantastic in it.Again when i read she signed BAH for many reasons and one of the reason was Ranbir.it was suprising.she should have atleast thought that this is her second moive.

So for me Deepika till now is just an eye candy..I am so shocked and suprised that only 2 films old and she on top of the world.Declared hottest on the world (which is not true ...agreed with her beau)so many awards,so many moive projects,advertisements.and yes top of all her relationship with the Kapoor.

And Katrina role was chopped off because the moive was getting long and she had nothing to do with Raj's life.In the end Dp would have got Ranbir with katrina in or not..if Katrina would have done this movie i am sure she would have done much better then Deepika.But again i think we should give some time to this girl because she has just entered.Even Kat was an eye candy but now after 5 YEARS she has improved!😆

I am actually waiting for CCTC and Imtaiz-Saif ...in these two moives she really needs to prove her acting skills.she really needs to work hard on her dialogue delievery.Deepika needs to sign solo films that too with the good scripts not becasue of good looking co-star!😆

And totally agreed with Madiha- these days all people make films for commercciall thing!

I totally agree with friends_rock!!

That scene in BAH didnt seem to impress me, when she was speaking about marriage, it sounded to rehearsed.. And OSO, she did well in the first half, second half, it was farah khans fault for not having a stronger character.

I think she needs to chose good roles, not just big banners with her bf.
