Why Aamir-Ratnam project got delayed

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
By Abid, Bollywood Trade news Network

Rumours were rife about a supposed fallout between Aamir Khan and Mani Ratnam and as result their project, based on renowed Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai's classic Lajjo, having been shelved. Thankfully, that is certainly not the case and we will let you know the exact reason for the delay.

The keenly awaited film was to be shot in Rajasthan and mostly outdoors. However, given the harsh summers, the project will now commence only in the last quarter of 2007. And Aamir has therefore decided to shoot for his GHAJINI remake, something we told you recently.

More importantly, the scripting of the film that features Kareena Kapoor as the leading lady, is still on. And before we leave, it is not necessary that the movie will have the same title as that of the paperpack, that is LAJJO.

Soumya Tandon plays Kareena's sister

Soumya Tandon, better known as Rusty of Aisa Desh Hai Mera, may not be seen on the small-screen these days but she is all set to play Kareena Kapoor's sister in Imtiaz Ali's film. Excited about her big screen venture Soumya says that after Shahid-Kareena, hers is the most important role in the film. "It's not a blink and miss role nor is it a lenghty one, but yes it is significant," informs the light-eyed actor who is also doing a short thirty minute film aimed for festival circuit. "Produced by a Toronto production house it reflects on the conversation between a couple sitting by the sea side," she says. The film will be shot in Gujarat. She is also readying to do a serial which will hit the tube sometime late in April though she is unwilling to reveal the channel right now. "It's not Sony," she laughs. We think it is STAR....

City girl bags role in Bollywood flick starring Kareena, Shahid

Anupam Bhagria

Ludhiana, April 6: Zoya, a seven-year-old student of Sacred Heart Convent Senior School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, is busy shooting for a Bollywood film these days.

And she is sharing screenspace with none other than the industry biggies, Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. While the film is being directed by Imtiyoz, its name is yet to be announced.

Zoya, who has just returned from the shooting that is under way in Nabha, excitedly said, "My role in the film is that of Kareena's cousin." The shooting for the film started on April 1 at 'Kake Ji Di Haweli' in Nabha, and will continue till April 20.

"After that, I will join the shooting whenever and wherever I am asked to," said Zoya. Her mother Sonia Verma is a dance teacher at Sacred Heart School.

She said that Zoya has always been a talented child. "She is very good in dance and has worked in three advertisements also," said Sonia.

Zoya bagged the role through her uncle Soman Kutti, who is the husband of Sonia's sister. Kutti has an advertising agency in Delhi, and got the ad contracts for Zoya too. The little one has advertised for Salasar Mega Store, MSM School Mart, and for an international brand of skin cream for children. The advertisements have been pasted on huge hoardings in various cities, including Chandigarh.

"The assistant director of the film saw one of these hoardings at Chandigarh and contacted us about 15 days ago. We met the film director Imtiyoz, and to our wonder Zoya was selected without any screen test," said Vikas Verma, Zoya's father.

Verma, a car financier in the city, said, "She has a good role, and will also be present in two songs in the film," he said.

The other actors in the film include Dara Singh and Kiran Juneja. "I want to be a theatre artist," smiles Zoya, who is fond of playing badminton and watching Cartoon Network.

"My favourite actors are Shahrukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor," she chirps.

Her elder sister Pearl, who is in Class IV, has been promised a role in the next film by the director, said Sonia.

"Pearl, too, has advertised for a school uniform. She is now preparing for the 'Best child competition' to be held in the city," added Sonia

A meaty challengeBy Debashine Thangevelo

Since 2005, award-winning actress Kareena Kapoor has been singing the same mantra to the media: "I want to do more meaningful films" or "I want meatier roles".

"I have decided to work on my own terms and conditions and not do films just for the sake of it. I have done enough run-of-the-mill roles and now I am going to do stuff that excites me professionally," she revealed prior to the release of Dosti: Friends Forever (2005).

Personally, I couldn't agree more with her decision.

Kapoor has proven to be a remarkable actress in serious cinema: Sudhir Mishra's Chameli, Mani Ratnam's Yuva, Govind Nihalani's Dev and Vishal Bharadwaj's Omkara.

If she wants to drop the glamour tag, no one is stopping her. She is the one who controls her career. And let's get real, she can get as picky as she wants and roles will still come her way - she is from the influential Kapoor film family, after all.

In her career to date, Kapoor has played the glamour role (Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham), displayed her knack for comedy (Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke) and showed that she can play mature roles (Bewafaa) as well as any seasoned actress out there.

Her IIFA nomination for Perform-ance in a Leading Role (Female) for Omkara, attests to her aptitude for rising to the occasion in challenging roles. Her rivals for the same award are Aishwarya Rai (Dhoom 2), Kajol (Fanaa), Kangana Ranaut (Gangster), Rani Mukherji (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna) and Vidya Balan (Lage Raho Munnabhai).

The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 9 in Yorkshire, England
.

Omkara is a Bollywood interpretation of the Bard's Othello and Kapoor played Dolly (Desdemona) opposite Ajay Devgan as Omi (Othello).

Kapoor told IANS: "I've decided to only take on roles that challenge me. No more routine roles, even in big projects.

"After Omkara, I feel I have reached a stage where I need to build on my reputation as an actress."

Post Omkara, which also bagged Kapoor the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance, Stardust Star of the Year Award - Female and Star Screen Best Actress award, she put in cameo appearances in Don - The Chase Begins Again and Kya Love Story Hai.

Incidentally, Kapoor's previous accolades include the Filmfare Critics' Award for Best Performance for Dev (2004), Filmfare Special Performance Award for Chameli (2004) and Filmfare Best Debut Award for Refugee (2000).

While she hasn't had any new releases of late, Kapoor's film kitty is brimming with new projects.

She is in Imtiaz Ali's forthcoming film opposite real-life beau, Shahid Kapoor, who is the son of veteran actor, Pankaj Kapoor. She has a Yash Chopra project, Mani Ratnam's Lajjo with Aamir Khan, Zoya Akhtar's romantic drama Kismat Talkies opposite Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Krishna Acharya's Tashan with Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan.

Kapoor has only received two IIFA awards so far: Best Female Debut for Refugee in 2001 and Style Diva of the Year in 2004.

Will she be successful in taking the honours for Performance in a Leading Role (Female) this year? Watch this space to find out!

You can't just be pleasing the kids all the time or the family audiences. You have to get into the masses as well" - Tusshar

By IndiaFM News Bureau, April 17, 2007 - 11:05 IST

I really liked the way Bosco has choreographed it and I think Kareena now looks more fitter than ever.

- Watch Kya Love Story... song (Video)

The talented Tusshar Kapoor will soon be seen on the big screen after a while with his film Kya Love Story Hai. Apart from that, 2007 will be a very important year for him as he will have as many as four releases lined up. Tusshar spoke to IndiaFM in an exclusive interview where he blurted out all that we needed to know about his films.

There was no talk about your movies post Golmaal and now suddenly you are all over the place.
I was shooting Kya Love Story Hai, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Good Boy Bad Boy and Dhol. They are all coming at the same time so that's something I can't plan myself. I'd rather have it more spaced out but that is not how the industry functions.

After Khakee you seem to be very selective about your movies.
I am choosy in the sense that I have to be convinced about what I am doing. I must enjoy working on the film and the subject. Mujhe Kuch Kehana Hai was my first hit then something didn't go well after that. Khakee did a lot for me. It brought me back after long gap and revised my career. I made up my mind that I'll be very careful and do lesser films.

I am not holding myself back as far as number of films is concerned. I have to act. I would love to do ten films a year but I must like what I have been offered and I don't have any restrictions on any number of films that I do in a year. It's ok if I have release every month also. But I must be excited about it. It should not feel stupid when film of mine is ready to be released.

I am not holding myself back as far as number of films is concerned. I would love to do ten films a year.
Let's talk about your first film which is releasing after four months, Kya Love Story Hai.
Kya Love Story Hai is a very simple, contemporary, romantic film. Its very light hearted and essentially a love triangle which we have seen so many times but the approach is different, the treatment is different and it's entertaining. I think a young love story of this kind has not has been attempted. People have moved on to do comedies and different experimental films.

I think that's why I feel like a young love story, mushy love story has not really come in a very long time. Hum Tum and Salaam Namastewere probably more mature, this is more for families and younger audiences. So that's what I think would set it apart.

I feel like a young love story, mushy love story has not really come in a very long time.
Director Lovely Singh and you go way back.
Lovely was the assistant director for my first film and we got along very well at that time. We have been friends since then. So he took a while to come up with a script. He always wanted to become a director and he finally zeroed in on a subject and I liked it. It's our first film together and hopefully this does well so there will be more films in the future.

Kareena is rocking in 'It's Rocking'.
She is good friend of mine but she is also very-very good friend of Lovely. We both met him during Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain and she has done Milenge Milenge also with him. So as a kind gesture she did this song for the promotion of the film. It will be included in the film also and I am quite impressed with it.

I really liked the way Bosco has choreographed it and I think Kareena now looks more fitter than ever.

Teamed again?

By Taran Adarsh, April 18, 2007 - 02:54 IST

They haven't starred in a thriller after FIDA, but there's speculation that love birds Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are expected to star in one. There's talk that Lovely Singh, who makes his directorial debut with KYA LOVE STORY HAI, has approached the two actors for his next film, a thriller.

"Kareena and Shahid are friends and we do meet each other often, but I haven't approached them or any actor for my next venture," Lovely denies the news-report outright, "People are waiting for KYA LOVE STORY HAI to release. Its box-office fate will decide my future course of action."

However, Lovely has two subjects in mind -- a romantic-comedy and a thriller. "But I haven't zeroed on the casting yet. It's KYA LOVE STORY HAI that's on my mind, that's keeping me pre-occupied," he adds.

Kya Friendship Hai !
By: Abid

Kareena Kapoor is a true friend indeed . She did not charge a single penny for the item song of N.R.Pachisia's 'Kya Love Story Hai' . It was neither for producer Pachisia nor for the hero Tusshar Kapoor, with whom she had one of her earliest successes ('Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai') that Kareena agreed to do the item number . According to sources, Kareena volunteered to shake a leg for its debut making director, Lovely Singh, who was Satish Kaushik's assistant during 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai'.

Today, Kareena's song is climbing up the popularity charts. Needless to add , Lovely Singh can't thank Kareena enough and N.R. Pachisia is dancing with joy!

But King Khan is known to do everything in his own inimitable style and he will end the first season of his KBC in this style too. SRK has roped in an awesome foursome for the last episode, the first half will have leading bollywood babes Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra and the second half will have Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. All the stars have decided to generously donate their prize money to different organisations.

Kareena and Priyanka have been seen together onscreen in their film Aitraaz and they have also been seen in Pepsi commercials with SRK. However the girls put an end to all ugly rumours of their animosity by appearing together on KBC. On the show they shared a great camaraderie and were at ease. SRK also did a great job of making the girls smile and encouraged them to participate and do well. Sources also claim that Priyanka will sing a few lines for the audiences.

Salman and Katrina will also be a part of the show and this is the first time that they will appear together on a game show for television.
