Lovely Singh's Kya Love Story Hai is all set to release this month and well, Kareena Kapoor's promotional track 'Its Rocking' is doing wonders for the movie. So, after taking a year long break, why did she decide to come back with a promotional song? "Actually the film's director Lovely Singh is a very close friend. I've known him since Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai. Doing the song was a gesture of love and friendship. And when he explained the concept to me and I heard the song I knew it was going to be a rocking number. I loved it. I've worn the most glamorous clothes, driven a limo and strummed a 25-feet guitar! It doesn't get better!" says Kareena.

It's quite a co-incidence though because a year back, Kareena went on a break after shooting for 'Yeh Mera Dil' from Don which was again a guest appearance. "Yes it is. I began my break last year after completing the dance number for Don, and now I have ended my break again with a dance number for Kya Love Story Hai! I was away purely out of choice because I needed to relax and unwind, but now it feels great to be doing what I have always loved doing."

Kareena looks very glamorous in the new music video. In fact, she has herself finalized her dresses for the video. States Kareena, "Since I am playing myself in the song, I told Lovely that I would not go overboard on the glamour front with any itsy-bitsy costumes. It was my idea to perform in jeans and gorgeous gowns." And the video surely goes in contrast with some of her characters in the last few films. "It is a good balance after doing films like Chameli and Omkara where I am de-glam."

But Kareena isn't very surprised looking at the success of the song. "I'm not surprised because when I first heard the track, I loved it!" Besides she loved dancing on the track. "There is this additional high of knowing that millions of people out there are going to dance to my moves!" says Kareena with enthusiasm.

And what's the secret behind her gorgeous looks in the video? "Yoga, it has really helped me! And thanks to Shahid (Kapoor) I have turned a vegetarian which has further enhanced my physique!"

Now that Kareena's break is over, she has a number of big assignments lined up. "There is Imtiaz Ali's film with Shahid as my co-star. Then I have Yash Chopra's next with Akshay and Saif, and there is Mani Ratnam's Lajjo with Aamir Khan."

With the way her career is shaping up, life is surely 'Rocking' for Kareena.

How Ganesh Hegde lost chance to choreograph 'It's Rocking' Kareena Kapoor's hit track, "It's Rocking Yaara Kabhi Ishq To Karo", from the forthcoming "Kya Love Story Hai" (out on April 20), is making news for all the right and wrong reasons.

Right because it is already No.1 on the world charts and is among the most requested songs on radio these days, wrong because Ayesha Takia was rumouredly upset about the introduction of the track and the attention going to Kareena!

Now another controversy on this song has come to the foreground. Before choreographer Bosco was roped in for "It's Rocking Yaara Kabhi Ishq To Karo", it seems director Lovely Singh had approached Ganesh Hegde (who choreographed "Main Hoon Don" last year). According to Singh, the latter had to be replaced because he gave him a lot of starry airs.

Remarks Lovely, "He wanted to change the whole song and that's not even a choreographer's job! I'm happy with my decision to replace him because the final output by the new choreographer is making waves and has been very well received!"

Hegde, on his part, said, "When I first heard the song I couldn't visualise anything spectacular so I asked Lovely to make some changes to the song. Kareena is a dear friend so I wanted to give her the best. Anyway, it's really not my loss. I do select work in a year and prefer maintaining that."

Today she's facing the camera in Patiala. Even when she was, knee-high in Mumbai's Lokhandwala, it was plain as day that she was star material..sure, there was a phase when she was studying at the city's Government Law College..but.

Kareena Kapoor aka Bebo has kept the RK banner flying high. I've watched Bebo coming of age..oftentimes, I've missed connecting with her. To make up for the lapse, I catch up with KK of the strawberry lips, cascading hair and ice cream-cool attitude:

Hello, hello..where are you Bebo.. what's up? Where were you?
You good? I'm shooting with Shahid (Kapur) for (director) Imtiaz Ali. I'm playing a girl from Punjab, Bhatinda. We finish the shoot on May 30.

From June, I'll be shooting for Tashan, the Yashraj film with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan..it's being directed by Vijay Acharya who wrote the Dhoom movies..it's a totally glamorous, todie-for role. From November 1, there will be Mani Ratnam sir's Lajjo. Ha..so see, I've given you my date diary.

From all the stuff I've been reading, it seems you're sitting at home, twiddling your thumbs.
Khaaaalid! I don't know what kind of stuff you've been reading..but you know I became an actress by choice..I've done just what I've wanted to..if I've played the typical heroine, I've also done Ashoka, Chameli, Dev and Omkara, no?

I don't want to go down the dumbette route..never have..I have to strike a balance. I'm the only actress who can be ultra-glam and absolutely real. Right from the start, I could have opted for a very safe zone — Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai — but I did Refugee.

After that I haven't limited myself to playing the college cutie..and I'd like to think the gamble has paid off. Maybe I haven't made all the right moves, risks give me a rush..I've come this far on my own.

Okay but what happens when your first hero, Abhishek Bachchan, isn't paired with you anymore?
Do I really have to answer this? Because I'm quite clueless about this myself. I think this part of my life has been blown up by the media. Even if that is the case, why make a big deal about it? A film is a film is a film. One has to keep one's emotions and relationships aside.

I'm not uncomfortable at all about acting with him but I can't say for a fact that he is. Our careers will go on. If we don't do a film together, it's not the end of the world. With time, I've become more introverted than he has known me to be. I'm into enjoying my niece (Samaira). I'm doing my thing, he's doing his..so where's the problem?

Hrithik Roshan and you were scheduled to do a film directed by Zoya Akhtar. Why is that project in a state of limbo?
To blame me for why Kismat Talkies has not yet taken off is absurd. Zoya is changing the script. That Hrithik doesn't want to work with me is just a piece of gossip. The film will happen next year..never mind the conjectures. It's believed that you may just up and marry Shahid any day. Ha, wishful thinking! Not possible. He's much too young..and I'm in my prime. I wouldn't give up my career for anything in the world.. marriage is nowhere on the radar. I have better roles than any other actress does today. In fact, it's a pity that I have to justify what I'm capable of. If I do one worthwhile film out of a hundred, that's fine by me.

Has there been a rift with Karan Johar? Ouch, how can you even ask me that?
No one on this earth can spoil my relationship with Karan. He's the brother I never had. I can talk to him more freely than I can with anyone in the world.

I wasn't ever asked by him to be in the film by Tarun (Mansukhani) which he's producing. He wanted me to be in the film being directed by Soham. For Karan, I'd do anything, no questions asked.

Since Soham has found another producer for the same project, are you in it?
It hasn't been offered to me. I was doing it for Karan, for Dharma Productions which is family.

How do you look back on the dance-and-blink role in Don?
I didn't do it as a career move. I wanted to be in the same frame with Shah Rukh Khan. I wanted to do the song Yeh mera dil. And it has got me so, so much. I've performed the song at a thousand concert shows across the world already .

Right..but how come you're doing an item song for Kya Love Story Hai?
That's because its director (Lovely Singh) is a childhood friend. He assisted Satish Kaushik on Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai..he'd ensure that I got my dress on time, he treated me like a princess..and I've always been grateful for such moments of warmth.

Hasn't your mother (Babita Kapoor) often held you back from being a loudmouth?
Mum knows that I can take care of myself, she's taken a backseat. I know my mind, I can no longer just do four scenes and four songs in a movie..or stand like a lamp shade by the hero. I'm here to do what a Kapoor should, to take the legacy forward.

Has the Kapoor clan been supportive?
Aunty Reema (Jain), dad and grandmum have been supportive. On seeing Omkara, they flooded me with flowers.

Do you miss a connect with your uncle, Rishi Kapoor?
Come what may I feel close to him, we are bound by blood. I do miss a personal word from him. Shahid and I are huge fans of Chintu uncle. Maybe some day, the past will be behind us. It has to be..Ranbir is coming..and he's going to be a killer.

Do you feel restless?
I do feel restless..when I'm subjected to negatives. But then I bounce back. I must have been seven, even then grandpa (Raj Kapoor) could guess that I would become an actress.

At the age of three, I would dance to Sridevi's songs from Tohfa. And he told me, "Child.. publicity is publicity. You should worry only when they stop writing about you."

Has knowing Shahid Kapur changed you any which way?
He's made me very basic, grounded, he tells me never to want more than what I already have. He's given me love, respect. He says at least one new nice thing to me every day .

When was the first time he said that he loves you?
Aieee, we've been together three years now..our love progressed in fast motion..maybe it was after a month that we met. It wasn't over candlelight..it wasn't filmi. I was as much in love, I fell head over heels in love with him..I had this gut instinct that he was my guy it wasn't so difficult for either of us to say the 'L' word..

Just a few days away from his wedding, what would you say to Abhishek?
I don't know. (Pause) I'd wish him a life full of success and happiness. He's a great guy...whatever happened was in the past..somethings are not meant to to be.

What's up with Karisma?
She's looking like a million bucks..right now she's on holiday in Tokyo. She's so much more of a woman now, strong-willed but a softie as a mother.

Ewww..is she making a comeback in a David Dhawan film?
I don't think she'll make a comeback till she finds the right film. She doesn't even know who's casting her in which movie. Samaira is her focus..and she's just like Lolo..quiet, sensible, with gorgeous eyes. Samaira doesn't speak in full sentences, she just repeats all the words she hears like a parrot.

Is there some tension between Priyanka Chopra and you?
Can you even believe such talk? How can we do something silly like quarelling over who's getting a role in a film? Pleeease.

How come you weren't considered for Dor, which seemed just up your street?
I would have done Dor any day. There was a time when Subhashji (Ghai) was supposed to produce it..but I had already committed myself to Omkara which I'll be proud of till my dying day.

Lastly, close your eyes for a minute.. what do you see?
That I'm acting, that I'm in love.. and humming... Acting karna yahaan, marna yahan.

Mr Cool John Abraham finally decides to come out with his reaction on Bebo's statement- John is expressionless. Kareena didn't bat an eyelid while telling Karan Johar on his show Koffee with Karan that she finds the actor expressionless.

Only natural that John is quite upset with the actress's statement. And what has perturbed him even more is, Kareena is venting her frustration on him just because Bipasha and Bebo are not on good terms.

Now John's- 'Kareena is a sweet girl' statement has changed. Says the actor: "If she has problems with Bipasha, then why is she involving me in this. I know this might be the only reason as she is not on good terms with Bipasha."

Clearing the air about the entire episode, he also adds at the same breath: "Well, I don't know who is saying what about me in the film industry. There are a lot of people and everyone has his/her views about others."

Why should I bother about all this? Such statements will not decide my fate in the industry. Whatever I have earned, it is because of my dedication and hard work."

The actor believes that these statements will die their natural death.

Shahid who accompanied Kareena on Koffee with Karan also remarked that the actor with whom Kareena would not like to work is John Abraham. So will he refuse to work with Kareena if he gets a nice offer? "I am a complete professional. I won't make a statement like who I wan to work with and who I don't."

"I think any professional in the film industry would not talk like this. Who are actors to make choices. It's the director's call. No professional would lose a good opportunity just because he or she is having problem with somebody."

Has he discussed the matter with Bipasha too? "We have many important things to talk than these petty things."

Now we know why Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to shelve his film Bajirao Mastani. Reportedly, Salman Khan recommended Katrina Kaif for the lead role

Katrina's career is careening from strength to strength. And though she would never acknowledge it, her steady beau Salman Khan has a lot to do with it. Needless to say that Sallu exercises a lot of clout in Bollywood…

Yet we have proof that not everyone bows before him. Consider, for instance, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who decided to shelve his film rather than have Katrina play the lead in it. According to our source, Salman approached Bhansali to cast Katrina in the proposed historical, Bajirao Mastani. "Salman was supposed to play the lead in the film, opposite Kareena. They even did a photo-session together, which Avinash Gowariker shot. But soon after, Salman wanted Kareena out of the project and Katrina in. Sanjay refused to relent. And Bajirao got postponed indefinitely."

Although Katrina denies Salman's role in the progress she has made in Bollywood so far, Salman has constantly been recommending her to his director-friends. A source says, "The first film Katrina got was Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. And she got it because Salman and David Dhawan are good friends. David also has Katrina in the cast of Partner, though to make it look more convincing, this time she's paired with Govinda instead of Salman. Both the projects came to Katrina as a result of Salman's persuading powers. Salman has not only been recommending Katrina, he has also been offering to play the lead in films that directors agree to cast her in."

The most amazing instance of the lover-boy's largesse is Raj Kumar Santoshi's London Dreams. Our source adds, "Santoshi had almost finalised Salman and Priyanka Chopra for London Dreams. But Salman was adamant on having Katrina cast opposite him. During the shooting of Rumi Jaffrey's God, Tussi Great Ho, Salman reportedly 'advised' Priyanka to opt out of London Dreams because, as he told Priyanka, he wanted Katrina in the film. Too polite to protest, Priyanka quietly said 'no' to London Dreams. The official reason for her opting out was dates and price. But we all know she was forced out of the project."

If there's one guy who fits into the quintessential Mills 'n' Boons slot, it's got to be Abhishek Bachchan.

The debut of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's son opposite Raj Kapoor's granddaughter in J P Dutta's Refugee was a major casting coup.

Both made a smashing first impression, complimenting each other beautifully despite contrasting personalities.

Raw and reticent, Abhishek appeared rather nervous and gauche in the intimate scenes when compared to a livewire Bebo. Nevertheless, they made an adorable pair.

Their second outing, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon required an awkward chemistry between them. The actors delivered. However, the film did not.

What a coincidence! I began my break last year after completing the dance number for Don, and now I have ended my break again with a dance number for Kya Love Story Hai! I was away purely out of choice because I needed to relax and unwind, but now it feels great to be doing what I have always loved doing.

Did you contribute to the song in any way?
Since I am playing myself in the song, I told Lovely that I would not go overboard on the glamour front with any itsy-bitsy costumes. It was my idea to perform in jeans and gorgeous gowns. Otherwise, it has been the team work of music director Pritam , choreographer Bosco, my dress designer Manish Malhotra, the director Lovely Singh , and Alisha China who has lent her golden voice to this number.

Did you imagine what a huge craze It's Rocking from Kya Love Story Hai would become?
I'm not surprised, when I first heard it, I loved it!

Personally what kind of music do you listen to?
My all time favourites are the old classics from films like Aawara, Chori Chori etc. It's Rocking actually has references to the erstwhile hit, Ude Jab Jab Zulfein Teri!

What are your expectations from your sensational appearance in Kya Love Story Hai?
There are no expectations except that I can experiment with some really glamorous looks. It is a good balance after doing films like Chameli and Omkara where I am deglam. And then there is the additional high of knowing that millions of people out there are going to dance to my moves!

Tell us about your forthcoming projects?
Imtiaz Ali's film with Shahid as my co-star is one I am excited about, then I have Yash Chopra's next with Akshay and Saif, and there is Mani Ratnam's Lajjo with Aamir Khan.

Is the directorial debut of Jugal Hansraj titled ROADSIDE ROMEO?

That's the speculation going around the town ever since news came in that actor Jugal Hansraj has been roped in by Yash Raj Films to direct their first ever animation film. Another highlight of this film is that it won't be based on human beings but, hold your breath, dogs! Hence the title ROADSIDE ROMEO!

To add spice to the flavor, there are also rumors of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor being roped in to give voiceover for the two dogs who are the prime protagonists in the film.

Will there be an official confirmation soon?

Just A Lull For Kareena

It seems Kareena Kapoor is out of work at the moment as the actress has no films lined up for release in 2007.

Kareena as always had plenty of work since her debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the 2000 release Refugee. Unfortunately, however, she has never had a solo hit.

Nonetheless, Kareena has always been considered an actress in the top league. Recently, the actress took a break from films and has not done any for the last year.

Supposedly, according to sources, Kareena is known to give even top filmmakers a lot of attitude and as a result, producers and directors are apparently gradually shying away from casting her in their films.

However, Kareena is adamant this is just a temporary lull in her career, she says, "I am Kareena Kapoor and I know that even if I sit home for a year, I will get work."

When confronted with some her failed projects, apparently Kareena said "How can you talk about me as if I am some 'has been'. I am Kareena Kapoor"

Ayesha at war with Kareena?

According to sources, Ayesha Takia is not happy. The promos of the forthcoming film, Kya Love Story Hai were giving her all the possible attention till Kareena Kapoor's sensational track It's Rocking Yaara Kabhi Ishq To Karo came on air and briskly moved up the charts.

Naturally, the emphasis shifted to Bebo's special appearance, quite like the situation in Don last year, when Priyanka Chopra's presence turned pale with the advent of the Yeh Mera Dil track.

Producer N.R.Pachisia on his part does not altogether deny the story. "I haven't spoken to Ayesha lately but I have heard that she is a bit upset. No doubt Kareena has done a fantastic job in the track and we are thankful to her. We've spent a bomb on it. But Ayesha has no reason to be upset because she's the heroine of Kya Love Story Hai."

Ayesha, on her part, said, "I am happy if the song is doing so well. Kareena has done a great job. I am a bit unwell and if I feel good I will certainly do my promotion for the film." When asked, if she would agree to make sensational appearances like the one Kareena has made, she said, "I don't do item tracks."

Ouch! Wonder if and how Bebo will retaliate!
